Strength training can increase muscle mass and strength while improving bone density and reducing risk for osteoporosis and related fractures. Strength training can also lead to reduced risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity; and improves self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Research demonstrates that strength training is extremely effective in helping aging adults with chronic conditions prevent further onset of disease and, in many instances, actually reverse the disease process. In Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Program elderly subjects perform resistance exercise training (RET) twice every week. Past literature suggests that resistance training improved muscle activity, muscle strength, muscle mass, and bone mineral density and total body composition, and adiponectin, insulin sensitivity, fasting blood-glucose (BG), HbA1c1 (long-term marker of BG), blood pressure (BP), blood triglycerides (TGs) and low density lipoproteins (LDL) in healthy and diabetic subjects. The purpose of this study is to measure the changes in the above discussed variables after 8-weeks of resistance exercises.

The results of this study will contribute to a better understanding of prospective memory deficit processes in breast cancer in relation to sleep disorders frequently reported in this pathology. In the long term, a better understanding will make it possible to envisage appropriate treatments to compensate for these memory difficulties and to improve the autonomy of the patients.

This study will examine how brain activation changes as a result of behavioral treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adolescents. The investigators will conduct functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans before and after the widely-used trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy to better understand how the brain recovers from illness. This study will provide much needed information about brain abnormalities in abused youth, and could lead to improvements in behavioral treatments for patients who do not respond to current treatments.

The Etude Study is a multi-center, four-arm prospective dose-adjusting study designed to assess the tolerability, safety and efficacy of non-invasive sensory stimulation for patients with cognitive impairment.

Briefly describe the purpose of this protocol. First purpose of the study is to understand the inheritance of morbid obesity. Briefly summarize how participants are recruited. Volunteers will first learn of LABS-2a research opportunity at the Bariatric Surgery Informational meetings. Briefly describe the procedures subjects will undergo. Participants will be asked to complete a set of memory tests. Fat and Liver samples will be removed during their weight loss surgery, specifically for this research study. If applicable, briefly describe survey/interview instruments used. Memory tests will be performed to assess cognition. Briefly describe how the data will be analyzed to address the purpose of the protocol. The memory test data collected and compared against well established norms. Tissue samples will stored in a repository to be genetically studied for an indefinite amount of time. Genetic studies will be related to the disease of obesity and associated comorbidities brought on by the disease.

Most patients with CPTH present with additional major cognitive, behavioral and somatic problems. Most drugs used currently have a negative influence on cognition. Therefore, treatment strategies addressing both the headache and cognitive disturbances in patients with CPTH are necessary. (CPTH; Chronic Post Traumatic Headache).

To investigate the efficacy of an individualized treatment plan delivered through remote technology along with enhanced staff training within a supervised memory unit on patient outcome, care quality, health care utilization/cost, and staff burden. Remote monitoring of activity data will also be explored.
