Nutritional Supplement Based on Myo-inositol-D-chiro-inositoln in Long-term Survivors of Lymphoma...
LymphomaHodgkin2 moreThe progressive improvement of lymphoma treatment has led to an important prolongation of patient survival and life expectancy. Therefore, the principal International scientific societies of oncology, recommend Long-term Survivors of Lymphoma to join fertility programs. Specifically, fertile age patients should be assisted by a multi-disciplinary team including specialists dedicated to fertility preservation in oncology, in order to support the completion of the reproductive project. In general population, the use of Inositol was spready considered an effectives choice to contrast ovarian dysfunction with consequently improvement of reproductive outcomes, so it may represent an adjuvant strategy for this purpose. Therefore, the investigators conducted a pilot study to evaluate the potentialities of this nutritional supplement with the aim to optimize the reproductive function in Long-term Survivors of Lymphoma. Despite the limited number of cases and short observational time, this pilot investigation could represent a potential cornerstone for further insights, discussions, and applications

Study of Menstrual Irregularities and Endometrial Pathology in Women Undergoing Bariatric Surgery...
Morbid ObesityEndometrial Pathology1 moreObjectives: Given the profound impact of obesity on the genesis of endometrial cancer, this study proposes to prospectively evaluate the baseline prevalence of menstrual irregularities and endometrial pathology in morbidly obese women and discover risk stratification markers that can potentially identify the highest risk women who might benefit from targeted cancer prevention strategies in a future clinical trial. Specific Aim 1: To assess the prevalence of menstrual irregularities and to correlate gynecologic and menstrual history with the perceived personal risk and severity of gynecologic cancers in a population of female bariatric surgery candidates. Specific Aim 2: To determine the prevalence of endometrial hyperplasia and cancer in morbidly obese women undergoing bariatric surgery. Specific Aim 3: To obtain adipose, endometrium, and blood samples (before and after) bariatric surgery to assess baseline hormone levels and adipocyte-derived factors and to correlate with presence of menstrual irregularities, endometrial hyperplasia or cancer, and with postsurgical weight changes. Methods: Specific Aim 1: After informed consent is obtained, a survey and medical history of prospective bariatric surgery patients will be performed at the University of Virginia. Specific Aim 2: For those women who undergo bariatric surgery, study investigators will perform endometrial biopsies at the time of bariatric surgery on participants to determine the status of the endometrial lining and the potential presence of endometrial cancer and its precursors. Specific Aim 3: At the time of surgery, blood, adipose, and endometrial tissue samples will collected for evaluation of adipocyte-related factors and correlation with clinical endpoints. Blood will also be collected at 6 and 12 months after surgery. Anticipated results: This study will identify the prevalence and correlation of menstrual irregularities with endometrial abnormalities and cancer in morbidly obese women as well as define their perceived risk of developing cancer. Serum biomarkers in obese women with and without endometrial cancer/precancer would be evaluated for correlation and potential applicability for endometrial cancer screening in this high-risk population. Most importantly, this study may provide evidence as to whether screening (via endometrial biopsy or other serum markers) is warranted in asymptomatic, morbidly obese women and suggest potential preventive and risk reduction mechanisms.
Evaluation of the Effects of Planned Trainings Given to Obese Adolescent Girls on Healthy Lifestyle...
ObesityAdolescent2 moreThe aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of training given to obese female students in mid-adolescence period for improving nutrition, physical activity, and menstrual symptoms on the improvement of their healthy lifestyle behaviors and menstrual symptoms. The research sample consisted of 128 obese female students divided into groups as intervention and control. In this randomized controlled trial, pretest-posttest control group and random process were used. In the first stage of the study, total of 12 hours of training, 120 minutes for each course per week, was provided. In the second stage, 120 minutes of reinforcement training were given every month for three months. The study lasted 16 weeks totally. Personal Information Form, Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale II (HLBS-II), Menstrual Symptom Questionnaire (MSQ) and Student Follow-up Schedule were used as data collection tools. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Statistics 23 Version. Hypotheses were (i) there was a difference between the total HLBS-II and MSQ scores of the students before and after the training and (ii) there was a correlation between the scales.

Polycystic Ovarian SyndromeHyperandrogenism1 moreWe investigate parameters of hemocoagulation and lipoperoxidation in women using combined oral contraceptives with antiandrogenic activity (containing drospirenone with 20 or 30 mcg ethinylestradiol; or cyproterone acetate); correction of these changes by antioxidants
Evaluation of the Effect of Coronavac Vaccine (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2...
Covid19Vaccine Reaction3 moreCoronavac, one of the vaccines developed within the scope of combating the COVID-19 pandemic that has surrounded the world for a year, started to be applied in the first healthcare workers in our country. In this important step taken to end the pandemic, information on vaccines is still limited. Most vaccines, including the Coronavac vaccine, are applied with approval for emergency use before phase 3 studies are fully completed. While investigating the effect of the vaccine on the virus, possible side effects should also be considered. In this context, it is not known whether the vaccine has an effect on the menstrual cycle, especially of women of reproductive age. Our primary aim in our study is to evaluate the effect of the vaccine on the menstrual cycle and if the vaccine has any effect on the menstrual cycle, what kind of changes this effect causes.
Organophosphate Pesticides and Human Reproductive Health
FecundabilitySpermatazoa Disorders2 moreThis prospective cohort study assesses the effects of exposure to organophosphate (OP) pesticides on adverse reproductive outcomes in both male and female agricultural workers in China. We will enroll women and their spouses, who are attempting to become pregnant, and observe reproductive endpoints including (1) semen parameters (concentration, total count, motility, progression and morphology), (2) menstrual disorders (oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea, polymenorrhea, intermenstrual bleeding, prolonged menstrual bleeding, dysmenorrhea, and irregular menstruation); (3) alterations in hormone patterns including reduced estrogen excretion (REE), anovulation, abnormal luteal phase (ALP), and abnormal follicular phase (AFP) in women and abnormalities of LH, FSH, TSH, SHBG, inhibin-B and testosterone in men; (4) fecundability; and (5) pregnancy outcomes including spontaneous abortion, preterm delivery, low birth weight, and intrauterine growth retardation.
Menstrual Cycle-induced Pain, Fatigue and Anxiety in Women Suffered From COVID-19
Menstrual ProblemCovid191 moreThe effects of COVID-19 on body systems and functions are still being investigated. ACE 2, which plays a key role in the entry of the COVID-19 virus into the cell, is also highly expressed in the ovary, uterus, vagina, and placenta in the female genital system, which can also pose a risk to female reproductive health. The aim of this study is to evaluate menstrual cycle-induced pain, fatigue and anxiety in women who suffered from COVID-19.
Investigation of Female Reproductive Hormone Dynamics During Adolescence
Menstruation DisturbancesIrregular menstrual cycles are common in girls for several years after their first menstrual period. The cause of abnormal menstrual cycles during this time is not well-understood. The purpose of this study is to: 1) monitor girls during a menstrual cycle (with blood and urine sampling and serial pelvic ultrasounds) to identify those girls who do not ovulate (release of an egg from the ovary), and 2) determine whether cycles can be corrected by treating girls with a short course of low-dose estrogen and progesterone.
