A Study of BBI608 in Combination With Pemetrexed and Cisplatin in Adult Patients With Malignant...
Malignant Pleural MesotheliomaNon-Small Cell Lung CancerThis is an open-label, multicenter, phase 1/2 study of BBI608 in combination with pemetrexed and cisplatin chemotherapy as a 1st line treatment for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM).
Nivolumab in Patients With Recurrent Malignant Mesothelioma
Malignant Pleural MesotheliomaThis is a prospective, single arm, phase II trial in previously treated patients with MPM who are considered candidates for immunotherapy and repeat thoracoscopies/transthoracic biopsies. Nivolumab will be administered 3 mg/kg q2 weeks by intravenous injection. The administration of nivolumab as monotherapy will improve DCR form 20% to 40% at 12 weeks when compared to DCR of patients treated with best supportive care based on historical controls.
Screening of Alberta Asbestos Exposed Workers for Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma
Lung CancerMesotheliomaAsbestos defines a group of naturally occurring mineral silicate fibers which are easily inhaled, resulting in a variety of diseases of the respiratory system including lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma. Despite some advances in treatment, there has been little impact on overall survival for both lung cancer and mesothelioma in the past 20 years in great part because patients usually present with disease at an advanced and incurable stage. This study aims to develop and implement a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening approach for lung cancer and mesothelioma in asbestos-exposed workers in Alberta.
Erlotinib Hydrochloride in Treating Patients With Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Malignant Peritoneal MesotheliomaThe purpose of this study is to test the drug erlotinib (erlotinib hydrochloride) in people with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma who have a specific genetic mutation in their cancer. Erlotinib has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for other cancers, but erlotinib has not been approved for malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. This research is being done because there is no current standard treatment for malignant peritoneal mesothelioma and the study doctors want to see how erlotinib affects malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.
PIT: Prophylactic Irradiation of Tracts in Patients With Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma
MesotheliomaThe PIT (Prophylactic Irradiation of Tracts) trial will determine whether or not PIT radiotherapy is effective in preventing or delaying the onset of chest nodules in patients with Mesothelioma.
Study of Pemetrexed in Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer Patients With Fluid Around the Lungs or Abdomen...
Non-small Cell Lung CancerMesothelioma1 moreThis study will test the effects of pemetrexed on mesothelioma and non-small cell lung cancer patients with fluid around their lungs or abdomen.
Cediranib Maleate in Treating Patients With Malignant Mesothelioma That Cannot Be Removed By Surgery...
Advanced Malignant MesotheliomaEpithelial Mesothelioma3 moreThis phase II trial is studying how well cediranib maleate works in treating patients with malignant mesothelioma that cannot be removed by surgery. Cediranib maleate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor
Pemetrexed Disodium and Cisplatin Followed by Surgery With or Without Radiation Therapy in Treating...
Malignant MesotheliomaRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as pemetrexed disodium and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving chemotherapy before surgery may make the tumor smaller and reduce the amount of normal tissue that needs to be removed. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Giving radiation therapy after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving pemetrexed disodium together with cisplatin followed by surgery with or without radiation therapy works in treating patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma.
Extrapleural Pneumonectomy With Intraoperative Intrathoracic/Intraperitoneal Heated Cisplatin With...
Pleural MesotheliomaMalignant Pleural MesotheliomaThe purposes of this study are: to evaluate the effects (good and bad) that administering heated cisplatin into the chest and abdomen cavity following surgical resection has on malignant mesothelioma; to collect data on the toxicity of cisplatin given directly into the chest and abdomen, and the levels of the cisplatin in the body; to determine if this treatment method has the possibility of helping patients with pleural mesothelioma live longer; and to determine if this treatment method can help decrease the rate of local recurrence of mesothelioma.
Inhaled Doxorubicin in Treating Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors Affecting the Lungs
Lung CancerMalignant Mesothelioma1 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving drugs in different ways may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of inhaled doxorubicin in treating patients who have advanced solid tumors affecting the lungs.
