AMH, Glucose Intolerance and Metabolic Syndrome in PCOS
Polycystic Ovary SyndromeAssociation between serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level and prevalence of glucose intolerance and metabolic syndrome in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Meta-analyses of the Effect of 'Catalytic' Doses of Fructose and Its Epimers on Carbohydrate Metabolism...
OverweightObesity4 moreDespite advances in the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, its prevalence continues to rise worldwide. There is a need for new modalities to improve metabolic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes and those who are overweight or obese and at risk for type 2 diabetes. Contrary to the concerns raised about the adverse role of fructose in metabolic health, various lines of evidence suggest that fructose and its epimers may improve the metabolic handling of glucose through inducing glycogen synthesis. Recent small trials in humans suggest that catalytic doses (=<10g/meal) of fructose and its epimers (allulose, tagatose, and sorbose) may reduce postprandial glycemic responses to carbohydrate loads (i.e., oral glucose tolerance test or a starch load) in people with and without type 2 diabetes. There is also limited evidence that these acute effects may manifest as longer term improvements in glycemic control. There is an urgent need to synthesize the evidence of the effects of fructose and its epimers on postprandial carbohydrate metabolism.
Metabolic Syndrome Cohort in Korea
Metabolic SyndromePatients with metabolic syndrome living in Seoul area are included in this prospective registry for more than 10 years. All enrolled patients undergo thorough medical history survey. Enrolled patients will have coronary CT, 2D echocardiogram, treadmill test, pulse wave velocity, augmentation index, carotid intima-media thickness, and abdominal fat mass evaluation. Moreover, lipid profiles and inflammatory markers such as hsCRP, IL-6, TNF-alpha, VCAM-1, ICAM-1, adiponectin, MMP-9 will be measured. All participants will repeat the test and survey every year in Korea University Hospital.
Blood Cell Response to Exercise
Metabolic SyndromeModerate exercise is recommended to improve cardiovascular health in obese and overweight people particularly with metabolic syndrome (MetS) that have hypertension, elevated fasting blood sugar, and elevated blood lipids. This study is being done to determine how platelets respond when a person performs an initial period of moderate exercise.
The Monocyte Subsets in Obese Patients With and Without Metabolic Syndrome
ObesityMetabolic SyndromeObesity is associated with a chronic low-grade inflammation characterized by macrophage infiltration in adipose tissue that induces insulin resistance and the appearance of metabolic syndrome (MS). The aim of the study was the investigation of whether circulating monocyte subsets are differentially regulated in MS.
The SEEA (SCI Energy Expenditure and Activity) Study
Spinal Cord InjuriesObesity3 morePeople with SCI are at higher risk of obesity and chronic diseases, such as hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and cardiovascular disease, than the general population. Researchers currently lack data on factors that influence weight gain among people with SCI. During this one-year observational study, study staff will enroll 60 individuals with SCI while they are inpatients at Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSWIR). Data will be collected at 3 time periods (before discharge and 6 and 12 months after discharge) in order to better understand factors that affect weight gain over the first 12 months following discharge from inpatient rehabilitation, such as nutritional intake, environmental access, psychosocial factors, energy requirements and risk factors for metabolic syndrome. These data will be used to inform future interventions for people with SCI.
Interleukin 38 as a Biomarker for Metabolic Syndrome in Psoriatic Patients
Psoriasiscase control study to compare level of interleukin 38 in patients with psoriasis and patients with metabolic syndrome with healthy control subjects
Obesity-hypoventilation in Metabolic Syndrom Patients

The Impact of Placental Factors on Fetal Intrauterine Growth and in Intrauterine Programming of...
Normal PregnanciesGenetic and environmental factors are believed to play a major role in intrauterine growth and intrauterine programming. We intend to study genetic factors such as Telomere homeostasis, senescence, genomic instability and the presence of Genomic copy number variations in placental tissue from pregnancies complicated with Intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR), Gestational and pre gestational Diabetes, placentas from IVF pregnancies and from normal pregnancies. We also intend to assess these factors in cord blood and maternal blood.
