This study aims to explore the efficacy and safety of an intervention strategy with berberine that can effectively treat a variety of risk factors (hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, hypertension).
Ketogenic Diet in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Rheumatoid ArthritisInflammation3 moreThis is a 6-week ketogenic diet (KD) intervention where participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) will follow a KD plan, supervised and monitored by a dietician. Participants will be provided extensive educational and ongoing support on the KD, including personalized coaching with the ability to text a dietitian at any time and expect a response within 12 hours. Diet adherence and progress will be assessed daily using at-home blood ketone/glucose monitors, along with diet records. Participants will fill out health related questionnaires and undergo assessments of body composition, RA disease activity. This study also includes blood draws and fat biopsy of the abdominal region.
Akkermansia Muciniphilia and Metabolic Side Effects of ADT

To confirm tolerability and assess for side effects of delayed oral acetate supplementation. Secondary outcomes: To determine if increased counts of A. muciniphilia correlate with improved metabolic parameters and improved bone health.
Low-Calorie Diet in People With Prediabetes/Metabolic Syndrome
ObesityNAFLD3 moreSignificant weight reduction, achieved by low-calorie diet (LCD), will mobilise ectopic fat (visceral and particularly liver fat), improving insulin sensitivity and other metabolic syndrome components, with secondary beneficial effects on cardiac structure and function. This CALIBRATE study (metabolic, multi-organ and effects of low-calorie diet in younger obese patients with pre-diabetes) will compare the effects of a safe and effective 12-month weight management intervention, initially using a low-calorie, liquid replacement diet for 12 weeks, anticipating at least 10% reduction in body weight. The investigators will examine how much the weight loss improves the metabolic abnormalities that precede type 2 diabetes (T2D), and in reversing the pre-clinical/subtle clinical abnormalities of the liver and heart that precede liver and cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study will compare the effects of a safe and effective 12-month weight management intervention, initially using a low-calorie, liquid replacement diet for 12 weeks, followed by a weight maintenance phase. The investigators will examine how much the weight loss improves the metabolic and neuropathic abnormalities that precede and accompany type 2 diabetes (T2D), and in reversing the pre-clinical/subtle clinical abnormalities of the liver and heart that precede liver and cardiovascular disease. In an additional optional sub-study, the investigators will additionally assess how the weight loss impacts upon appetite regulation within the brain with functional MRI (fMRI).

Metabolic SyndromeProtection Against2 moreThe goal of this clinical trial is to test the ability of a home-based parental nutrition intervention to improve diet quality in preschool aged children within low-income, Latinx/Hispanic families. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does this enhanced intervention change children's diet quality? Does this enhanced intervention change parental feeding practices? Does this enhanced intervention change the availability of healthy foods in the home? Participants will: Work with a support coach Have a home visit with a support coach once a month, for three months Have a phone call with a support coach once a month, for three months Receive written materials and text messages over the six months Researchers will compare a control group receiving different written materials and messages to see if the enhanced intervention changes diet quality in children.
Lifestyle Intervention Trial in High Metabolic Risk Chinese
Metabolic Syndrome XIn this single-blind, randomized trial, about 1200 eligible volunteers, who have higher metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk and aged 20-65 years, will be assigned to one of three smartphone-based lifestyle intervention arms: 1) Routine education; 2) Programmed-smartphone intervention; and 3) Programmed-smartphone plus dietitian intervention. Before and after 6-month intervention, "PhenFlex test" (PFT) will be performed to examine and quantify improved metabolic flexibility. This intervention trial will be conducted by researchers in Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) collaborating with Zhejiang University affiliated Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committees in Shanghai Institutes of Nutrition and Health, and in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. The main aims of this study are to determine 1) efficacy of lifestyle interventions with different intensity in reducing MetS and its risk factors; 2) improved metabolic responses or flexibility defined by PFT-based homeostasis index; and 3) major genetic and nongenetic determinants for the efficacy of interventions among high MetS risk Chinese.
Clinical Intervention on Cognitive Impairment of Schizophrenia With Metabolic Syndrome
SchizophreniaThis is a single-center, randomized, parallel-control study conducted in schizophrenic inpatients with metabolic syndrome who have been conducted with olanzapine. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, Xbox aerobic exercise and transcranial direct current stimulation( tDCS). Following a screening period, subjects who meet the entry criteria will be randomized to treated with omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids1.2mg per day, Xbox aerobic exercise 30min per day and tDCS at 2mA, 20 min(5 session/week) for 12 weeks.
