A Phase IIa Proof-of-concept Study of NC-503 in Patients With Type II Diabetes
Diabetes MellitusType 21 moreThe main objectives of the current study are to establish the safety and clinical proof-of-concept of NC-503 in inadequately controlled patients with Type 2 diabetes and features of metabolic syndrome treated with either metformin, a sulfonylurea agent, or metformin in combination with a sulfonylurea agent.
Study to Determine if Olmesartan Medoxomil Has the Potential to Benefit the Cardiovascular System...
Metabolic SyndromeHypertensionThis study will analyse the dose-dependent effect of olmesartan medoxomil on the change in arterial stiffness in subjects with hypertension and metabolic syndrome
Mechanisms of Ramipril Reduction in the Onset of Type 2 Diabetes
Metabolic SyndromeThe study will be focused on determining the integrated in-vivo mechanisms responsible for Ramipril's effects on delaying type 2 diabetes and restoring normal (blood sugar levels) glycemia in patients with impaired glucose tolerance. Hypothesis - Ramipril effects will delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and restore normal glycemia in patients with impaired glucose tolerance.
Atheroma Reduction With Chloroquine in Patients With the Metabolic Syndrome (ARCH-MS)
Metabolic Syndrome XOverweight3 moreMetabolic syndrome consists of a group of co-occuring conditions that increase an individual's risk of developing heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of chloroquine, a protein-activation medication, at reducing the progression of atherosclerosis in patients with the metabolic syndrome. Sub-study: Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and Cardiometabolic Risk, The purpose is to determine if the association of VEGF with atherosclerosis indicates that it should be a marker of the disorder.
Study of TNF-Antagonism in the Metabolic Syndrome (II)
Metabolic SyndromeThis study will investigate whether etanercept will result in improved inflammatory indices, glucose tolerance and endothelial function in patients with the metabolic syndrome.
A Multicenter, Randomized, Open Label Study to Evaluate the Lipid Lowering Efficacy and Safety of...
HypercholesterolemiaPrevalence of metabolic syndrome in korea is increasing. There is no clinical trial targeting on such increasing populations like metabolic syndrome patients with Vytorin® in korea. Therefore this trial will help evaluate the lipid lowering effect of Vytorin® in asian population with metabolic syndrome.
The Effects of Aripiprazole on Patients With Metabolic Syndrome
SchizophreniaSchizoaffective Disorder2 moreThe primary goal of this study is to assess the effect of aripiprazole on patients who developed metabolic syndrome while taking other second generation antipsychotic medications.
Anticonvulsant Mood Stabilizers, Antipsychotic Drugs and the Insulin Resistance Syndrome
SchizophreniaSchizoaffective Disorder1 moreThe objective of this study is to determine the effect of various mood stabilizers (MS) on the insulin resistance syndrome (IRS; also called the metabolic syndrome) alone and in patients treated with antipsychotic drugs (APDs). Patients will be switched from their current antipsychotic medication to aripiprazole (Abilify) or ziprasidone (Geodon) (unless clinically contraindicated) for comparison with metabolic levels during treatment with the former medication. The metabolic syndrome is an empirical concept based on extensive evidence that a constellation of 5 metabolic abnormalities, e.g. increased cholesterol, hypertension, low HDL, taken together, predict marked increases in the risk of CVD, stroke and some types of cancer.
Irbesartan in the Treatment of Hypertensive Patients With Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic SyndromeHypertensionThe purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if irbesartan is superior to hydrochlorothiazide relative to effects on insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in hypertensive patients with metabolic syndrome.
Effect of Statins on Oxidative Stress and Endothelial Progenitor Cells
Diabetes MellitusMetabolic Syndrome X1 moreThirty-six subjects with hyperlipidemia and metabolic syndrome and/or diabetes were randomized in a double-blind manner to either pravastatin 80 mg or atorvastatin 10 mg daily. Oxidative stress (dROMs assay that measures lipid hydroperoxides, plasma thiobarbituric acid reactive substances [TBARS], and aminothiol levels) and brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) were measured at baseline and after 12 weeks of statin therapy.
