Dalteparin in Preventing DVT in Participants With Cancer
Bone SarcomaFemur Fracture5 moreThis trial studies how well dalteparin works in preventing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) (blood clots) in participants with cancer. Dalteparin is a blood thinner that can treat blood clots and may prevent them from forming.
Preventive Effect of Enoxaparin, Pentoxifylline and Ursodeoxycholic Acid to Radiation Induced Liver...
Colorectal CancerLiver Metastases2 moreTo evaluate whether a combination regimen of pentoxifylline, ursodeoxycholic acid and enoxaparin provides a protective effect on the liver parenchyma after high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy.
Surgery Versus Radiosurgery for the Treatment of Single Brain Metastases
Patients With a Single Brain MetastasisUsually the treatment of a single brain metastasis is surgery or Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS). Surgery involves resection of the brain tumor by means of an operation, whereas SRS is treatment consisting of highly focused radiation doses to the tumor. These two treatment modalities are both widely used, well established, and proven to improve survival, but so far, no study has been done to directly compare the efficacy of one over the other. Neither treatment in itself is considered to be experimental and both have been shown to provide benefits to patients with metastatic brain tumors. The aim of this study is to determine which two modalities are better for local control and improving quality of life. Patients who consent to this study will be randomized to either receive surgery or Radiosurgery in the treatment of single brain metastases. The study seeks to recruit 12 patient to each group. Patients will be in this study for up to five years from the time of the treatment finished. This will include follow-up visits at 4 weeks after the procedure and then every 3 months after the procedure up to 5 years.
Study of Outcomes of Radiofrequency Ablation of Lung Tumors
NSCLCPulmonary MetastasesThe purpose of this study is to assess short and long term outcomes after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of pulmonary malignancies in patients who are not candidates for surgical resection. This study will evaluate the efficacy of RFA for the treatment of lung tumors by assessing its impact on local tumor control, progression free survival, overall survival, dyspnea score and quality of life (QOL).
Electrochemotherapy For The Treatment Of Breast Cancer That Has Spread to the Skin
Breast CancerSkin MetastasesElectroporation combined with chemotherapy (ECT) has been shown to be an effective treatment for breast cancer that has spread to skin. In routine clinical practise, ECT is offered to patients when all other treatment options have been exhausted. This study tests the hypothesis that early treatment with ECT may result in improved local control of skin metastases, improved quality of life and reduced health care costs. Patients are randomised to either ECT given as early as possible in the course of the disease or delaying ECT for at least 6 months.
A Study to Evaluate the Safety and Efficacy of Zoledronic Acid in the Prevention or Delaying of...
Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer30-40% of patients with lung cancer will develop bone metastases during the course of their disease, which can lead to pain, decreased mobility and skeletal complications. This study will investigate the effect of zoledronic acid on preventing or delaying the development of bone metastases and the impact on disease progression/survival in patients with stage IIIA and IIIB Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
Radiation Therapy With Combination Immunotherapy for Relapsed/Refractory Metastatic Melanoma
Metastatic MelanomaPulmonary Metastases2 moreThis is a Phase 1b/2 study designed to evaluate combination of the human T-cell cytokine Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and a checkpoint inhibitor Ipilimumab immediately following a course of hypofractionated palliative radiation therapy in the management of unresectable, relapsed/refractory metastatic melanoma.
Intralesional Sclerosant for in Transit and Cutaneous Melanoma Metastases
MelanomaIn-Transit Metastasis of Cutaneous MelanomaThere is currently an urgent need for low cost and well tolerated intralesional agents for the management of in transit and cutaneous melanoma metastases that are unsuitable for, or resistant to, other therapies. This pilot study will determine whether intralesional injections of the sclerosant polidocanol into intransit and cutaneous melanoma lesions shows promise for efficacy, safety and ease of use that will enable this inexpensive and widely available agent to undergo further evaluation.
Immunotherapy Combined With Y-90 and SBRT for Colorectal Liver Metastases
Colorectal CancerThis study is evaluating the combination of Y-90 radioembolization followed by SBRT with the immunotherapy drugs, durvalumab and tremelimumab, to improve disease control of liver metastases for patients with microsatellite stable colorectal cancer.
Development of a Cell Free DNA Assay as a Biomarker for Predicting Early Non-response to Therapy...
Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung CarcinomaMetastatic Colorectal Cancer1 moreAccrue samples for the further development and clinical validation of a blood-based cell-free DNA (cfDNA) quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assay as a potential biomarker for early non-response to therapy in stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), colorectal cancer (CRC) and breast cancer (BC).
