Feasibility of Supportive Care Needs in Patients With Advanced Solid Cancer in a Therapeutic Trial...
Supportive CareMetastatic Cancer1 moreThe purpose of the study is to assess the supportive care needs of patients enrolled in a therapeutic trial for metastatic cancer.
Outcomes of Surgical Treatment of Patients With Spinal Metastasis in AUH
Spinal MetastasesTo analyze the outcomes of surgical treatment of patients with spinal metastases in spine unit in AUH regarding the pain control, neurological status and ambulatory status as well as survival rate .
Genetic Risk of Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (ONJ) in Patients With Metastatic Cancer
Bone DiseasesMetastases2 moreThis study seeks to identify risk factors associated with the development of a jaw condition seen in patients with cancer treated with certain medications.
Diffusion-weighted Imaging Study in Cancer of the Ovary
Ovarian CancerPeritoneal MetastasesThis project seeks to develop a quantitative imaging biomarker for evaluating and monitoring treatment response in ovarian cancer metastases and assess its potential in monitoring treatment response. This will involve standardising DW-MRI for the abdomen and pelvis across multiple centres and platforms, assessing reproducibility of the measurement in patients planned for neoadjuvant chemotherapy and assessing its utility as an early response biomarker in patients with platinum-sensitive relapse due to receive therapy with carboplatin. Scanning measurements will be correlated with histopathological markers in tumour samples in order to link the biomarker with response mechanisms.
A Study to Test Lung Function After Radiation Therapy
Lung NeoplasmsNeoplasm MetastasisIt is known that radiation damages lung tissue. New human studies at University of Iowa show that the radiation damage is not as expected. The purpose of this study is to document lung function using four-dimensional computed tomography (CT) and quantify changes three months after radiation therapy for malignant lung disease.
Role of Positron Emission Tomography/ Computed Tomography (PET/CT) and in Bone Metastases.
Bone MetastasesThe aim of this study is to detect bone metastases by PET/CT examination in cancer patients.
MRI Screening Versus SYMptom-directed Surveillance for Brain Metastases Among Patients With Triple...
Breast NeoplasmBrain Metastases2 moreIn this study, 50 women with either HER2+ or triple negative metastatic breast cancer but no known brain metastases will be recruited at the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre. They will be randomized to undergo either routine MRI screening of their brain every 4 months for 1 year or standard-of-care (MRI only if symptoms of brain metastases develop). Patients will complete questionnaires about quality of life and cancer-related anxiety throughout the study. To determine why some cancers spread to the brain and others do not, blood samples will be collected to analyze the genetic makeup of patients' breast cancers. Finally, a novel MRI imaging technique that detects abnormal metabolism in the brain will be used to help detect brain metastases even earlier than the standard MRI. If results are promising, we will conduct a large multi-centre randomized trial to determine whether screening for brain metastases can help them live longer with improved quality of life.
Sequence of Radiation and Targeted Therapy in Brain Metastases
The Optimal Sequence of Radiotherapy and Systematic Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors in Treating Brain MetastasesThe investigators conducted a single institutional, retrospective cohort study to demonstrate the appropriate treatment strategy of upfront intracranial radiotherapy or upfront targeted therapy in patients with brain metastases, including an assessment of its feasibility and toxicity.
Study of Different Gating Techniques for PET Image of Lung and Liver Lesions
Lung; NoduleLiver MetastasesLesions blurred by respiratory motion are common in fluorine-18 PET/CT studies. To avoid these artefacts, several standard gating correction technics are available. the investigator aimed to compare the impact of different gating techniques based on phase, amplitude, elastic-motion monitored with and without pressurre sensor device on standardized uptake value (SUVmax and SUVpeak) and uptake volume (UV) measurements on different sizes of pulmonary and liver lesions. The feasability of this study will be done using anthropomorphic coupled with a motion phantom and on a series of patients.
Chemotherapy and Tumor Clearance in Hepatic Resections for Colorectal Liver Metastases.
Colorectal Cancer MetastaticLiver MetastasesRetrospective analysis of a prospectively collected database of 170 patients between 2004 and 2020, who underwent liver resections for CRLM (colorectal liver metastases) at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital trying to determine rates and patterns of recurrence following liver resections for CRLM and concurrently, characterise clinical, pathological and treatment-related factors that could function as predictors of recurrence or survival, particularly neoadjuvant chemotherapy and tumour clearance.
