Metastatic Cancer or Locally AdvancedPatients Receiving Palliative Radiation

The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness and acceptability of a recently created informative video geared for patients who have been evaluated by a radiation oncologist for palliative radiation therapy during a hospitalization at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Palliative radiation therapy is radiation therapy that is given to patients with the purpose of easing symptoms from cancer. It is not given with the intent to cure the cancer. The video presents basic information about palliative radiation and palliative care.

A Study of Pancreatic Cancer in Xenografts From Liver Metastases

Pancreatic CancerLiver Metastases2 more

This is a feasibility study to perform image-guided liver biopsies in 25 patients who have pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis (cancer in the pancreas that has spread to the liver). This will contribute with samples for the bio-bank (bank of tumors) and develop xenografts (human tumors growing in mice) for further analysis of genes.

Observational Study on Second Line Treatment of Liver Metastases With DEBIRI and Cetuximab

Colon Cancer Liver Metastasis

The recently introduced chemoembolization has been considered to be a very attractive new method in terms of response in the treatment of liver metastases from colon cancer carcinoma (LM-CRC). It appears to be particularly useful if carried out with the new embolization materials. An 80% response rate was reported using TACE with Irinotecan pre-loaded Beads in patients with liver metastases from colon cancer, who had been pretreated with 2 or more lines of chemotherapy. Since a greater activity was attained by a combination of Cetuximab and Irinotecan versus Cetuximab in monotherapy, the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) has granted authorization to the use of Cetuximab in association with irinotecan in the treatment of irinotecan-refractory CRC-LM. In this study we want to collect data on on time to progression and tolerability using DEBIRI+Cetuximab in LM-CRC

HIPEC For Peritoneal Surface Malignancies Including Carcinomatosis or Sarcomatosis - Data Registry...

Peritoneal NeoplasmsNeoplasm Metastasis2 more

In this registry study the investigators will collect data about patients' disease, treatment, and response to treatment to include in both our local and national databases. These can then be used by investigators to answer questions about cytoreductive surgery/HIPEC such as how well-tolerated or effective it is in specific populations.

Hematopoietic/Lymphoid CancerAccelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia155 more

RATIONALE: Infection prophylaxis and management may help prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection caused by a stem cell transplant. PURPOSE:This clinical trial studies infection prophylaxis and management in treating cytomegalovirus infection in patients with hematologic malignancies previously treated with donor stem cell transplant.

Pilot Project: Fast Whole-body Spect Scanning to Improve the Detection of Bone Metastases in Patients...

Bone Metastases

The investigators propose to investigate the performance of the image reconstruction software with resolution recovery correction for bone SPECT studies. The investigators estimate that in only 30 minutes, using this new technique of collimator de-blurring, one could perform a fully 3-dimensional SPECT whole-body bone study, essentially obviating the necessity for doing planar bone studies. In the scope of the proposed project, the investigators group aims to test the hypothesis that one can perform a Tc-99m whole-body SPECT study in the same time as a regular routine planar bone study, with greater localization accuracy, and greater lesion detection. To establish a "gold standard" necessary to assess the performance of the SPECT bone scans, the investigators will compare number of malignant lesions detected in patients who are proven to have metastatic skeletal bone lesions on PET F-18 whole-body scans, with whole-body Tc-99m SPECT lesions. The investigators also propose to compare the detection of SPECT scans with standard planar bone scans. This will allow for two major comparisons (a) the accuracy of SPECT bone studies compared to planar bone studies, and (b) the accuracy of SPECT bone scans compared to F-18 PET studies. Most prior studies purporting to show the superiority of F-18 bone scans to Tc-99 bone scans were done only against either planar scans or a combination of planar scans and partial SPECT studies over the spine. We anticipate that F-18 bone scans, due to the higher counting statistics of PET agents, will show more lesions than SPECT, but the exact increase in sensitivity has never been compared to whole-body SPECT scans.

Study of Resection Combined With Stereotactic Radiosurgery for 1 to 3 Brain Metastases

Neoplasm Metastasis

This study is to look more closely at the tumor removed during your surgery, and to follow your condition after your treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine what side effects are common or more rare from this treatment, how well the treatment has worked for you, and to track whether you develop other brain metastases.
