Rapid Radiation Therapy for Painful Osseous Metastatic Disease

Bone Metastases

The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an experimental workflow that may result in a faster way to plan and deliver radiation for the treatment of pain caused by metastatic bone tumors (tumors that originally came from another organ and have spread to bones causing pain) or multiple myeloma (a type of cancer that begins in white blood cells that produce antibodies). The current standard of care radiation treatment planning and delivery takes 2 to 3 weeks from start to finish. The investigators have developed an experimental workflow: a radiation treatment planning and delivery workflow called "STAT RT" (STAT means "right away", and RT means radiation therapy). This experimental workflow may shorten the time it takes to plan and treat painful bone metastases to 1 week or less. All steps in this process will be performed within the current standard of care but in a shorter time frame to allow treatment to start sooner. The investigators will evaluate effectiveness by requesting patients to complete pain and quality of life questionnaires before and after treatment. The investigators will also be collecting additional information from their treatments that will help us make future workflows even more efficient.

Study to Assess Safety and Tolerability of Oral CC-115 for Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors,...

Glioblastoma MultiformeSquamous Cell Carcinoma of Head and Neck4 more

The main purpose of this first human study with CC-115 is to assess the safety and action of a new class of experimental drug (dual DNA-PK and TOR kinase inhibitors) in patients with advanced tumors unresponsive to standard therapies and to determine the appropriate dose and tumor types for later-stage clinical trials. The bioavailability of tablet and capsule formulations under fasting and fed conditions will also be evaluated in some patients.

Tosedostat in Combination With Cytarabine or Decitabine in Treating Patients With Newly Diagnosed...

Acute Myeloid Leukemia With Multilineage DysplasiaAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia With 11q23 (MLL) Abnormalities7 more

This study examines a new oral chemotherapy drug called tosedostat, in combination with cytarabine or decitabine. Tosedostat is thought to work by decreasing the availability of amino acids (building blocks the cell needs to make proteins) in cells. It has been shown in early studies to have activity against a variety of cancers, including leukemias. Patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) with specific genetic mutations have a poorer response to chemotherapy and a higher risk of relapse after treatment. Researchers are looking to see if combinations of chemotherapy drugs may improve outcomes for patients that do not respond as well with the current chemotherapy regimens, without increasing the risks of treatment.

Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy in Treating Younger Patients With Lung Metastases

Adult RhabdomyosarcomaLung Metastases13 more

This pilot clinical trial studies intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in treating younger patients with lung metastases. Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue.

Fractionated Radiosurgery for Painful Spinal Metastases

Neoplasm MetastasisNeoplastic Processes5 more

It is the study hypothesis that hypo-fractionated image-guided radiosurgery significantly improves pain relief compared to historic data of conventionally fractionated radiotherapy. Primary endpoint is pain response 3 months after radiosurgery, which is defined as pain reduction of ≥2 points at the treated vertebral site on the 0 to 10 Visual Analogue Scale. 60 patients will be included into this II trial.

The Effect on Androxal Versus Androgel on Morning Testosterone in Men With Secondary Hypogonadism...

Secondary Hypogonadism

The study will determine the effects of three doses of Androxal(enclomiphene citrate)on morning testosterone versus AndroGel(approved topical treatment)in men with low testosterone (<350 ng/dL)after 6 weeks of continuous dosing.

MS-275 and GM-CSF in Treating Patients With Myelodysplastic Syndrome and/or Relapsed or Refractory...

Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in RemissionAdult Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia (M7)27 more

This phase II trial is studying how well giving MS-275 together with GM-CSF works in treating patients with myelodysplastic syndrome and/or relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia. MS-275 may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the cancer. Colony-stimulating factors, such as GM-CSF, may increase the number of immune cells found in bone marrow or peripheral blood. Giving MS-275 together with GM-CSF may be an effective treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia

Sm-EDTMP and Autologous Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation for Breast Cancer Patients With...

Breast CancerBone Metastases

Primary objectives: - To determine the time to progression in subjects with breast cancer metastatic to bone only treated with 153Sm-EDTMP and Autologous Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplantation (PBSCT). Secondary objectives: To determine the overall survival at one year. To determine the efficacy of 153Sm-EDTMP at 6 months. To assess pain in subjects treated with 153Sm-EDTMP. To determine the safety of 153Sm-EDTMP.

Proton Beam Irradiation for the Treatment of Unresectable Hepatocellular Cancer or Hepatic Metastases...

Hepatocellular CancerCholangiocarcinoma1 more

The main purpose of this study is to determine if high doses of radiation using proton beam can be given safely with low and acceptable side effects. We will also gather information to determine the ability of proton beam to destroy cancer cells in the liver. There are two types of external radiation treatments (proton beam and photon beam). Proton beam radiation is a very accurate kind of treatment that has been shown to affect less normal tissue than a regular radiation beam. The accuracy allows us to more safely increase the amount of radiation delivered to eliminate cancer and may potentially reduce the side effects normally experienced with standard radiation therapy.

Phase 3 Trial of Litx™ Plus Chemotherapy vs. Chemotherapy Only Treating Colorectal Cancer Patients...

Liver MetastasesColorectal Neoplasms3 more

The purpose of the study is to assess the overall survival and progression free survival of patients treated with Litx™ + chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone in the treatment of Colorectal Cancer with recurrent liver metastases, and to demonstrate the safety of Litx™ therapy. Litx™ consists of a light-activated drug, talaporfin sodium (LS11, Light Sciences Oncology, Bellevue, Washington), and a light generating device, composed of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), that is energized by a power controller and percutaneously placed in the target tumor tissue inside the body.
