C11-Sodium Acetate PET/CT Imaging for Metastatic Disease in Intermediate-to-high Risk Prostate Adenocarcinoma...

Prostate CancerProstate Adenocarcinoma

Positron emission tomography using carbon-11 acetate (AC-PET) may help find local or distant metastases from prostate cancer. This clinical trial is studying how this imaging test may help influence the choice and extent of initial treatments, and subsequent treatments.

Frameless Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases

Brain Metastases

The investigators plan to study high dose, single treatment radiation, using a plastic mask instead of a head frame that pins into a patient's skull. The investigators need to (1) quantify set-up accuracy and patient motion during radiation treatment and (2) ensure that without the head frame the tumour control rate and risk of complications are similar to our previous experience using the head frame.

Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine Versus Follow-up After Resection of Colorectal Liver Metastases

Colorectal NeoplasmsLiver Metastases

Primary endpoint of the study is to prove the superiority of an adjuvant therapy with oxaliplatin/ capecitabine until the first occurrence of appearance of a tumour. Occurrences in the meaning of this study are the appearance of a relapse of the tumour, of metastases, of a second tumour or death of any reason.

Effects of Acupoint Electro-stimulation on Preventing Nausea and Vomiting Induced by Cisplatin or...

Liver CancerLiver Metastasis

Objectives: This protocol is part of a larger grant funded by the NCI to create an international research center to study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). All of the patients enrolled in this study will be treated at the Cancer Hospital, Fudan University, investigator's sister institution in Shanghai, China. No patients will be seen at MDACC. This protocol will be overseen by the Fudan University Institutional Review Board (IRB00002408) which has Federal Wide Assurance through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (Approved: April 25, 2002). The research nurses have received training at MDACC and will receive regular oversight by MDACC personnel. The purpose of this randomized, placebo controlled study is to determine the effects of K1 acustimulation at controlling chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). The primary aim of this study is to determine the effects of electro-stimulation of Yongquan (K1) acupoint on preventing nausea and vomiting induced by cisplatin or oxaliplatin. The secondary aim is to observe the effects of electro-stimulation (ES) of Yongquan (K1) acupoint on pain, insomnia, abdominal distention, dizziness, and general sense of well-being.

Ruxolitinib Phosphate, Tacrolimus and Sirolimus in Preventing Acute Graft-versus-Host Disease During...

Acute Myeloid Leukemia in RemissionPrimary Myelofibrosis4 more

This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of ruxolitinib phosphate when given together with tacrolimus and sirolimus in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease during reduced intensity donor hematopoietic cell transplant in patients with myelofibrosis. Sometimes transplanted cells from a donor can attack the normal tissue of the transplant patient called graft-versus-host disease. Ruxolitinib phosphate may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It may also reduce graft-versus-host disease by reducing inflammation and immune modulation. Giving ruxolitinib phosphate together with tacrolimus and sirolimus after transplant may prevent graft-versus-host disease.

Biliary or Digestive Protection by Room Air Interposition for Thermal Ablation of Central Hepatic...

RadiologyInterventional7 more

This study aims to analyse retrospectively the feasibility, the safety, and the efficiency, of biliary or digestive protection with room air interposition for thermal ablation of central liver tumors with high iatrogenic risk. Thermal ablation is a mini-invasive and curative treatement of liver tumors. However, it requires to be carefull about surrunding organs, such as digestive structures or central biliary tree, which can be injured if not insulated. The technique of gas interposition to protect adjacent gut is already known and validated with carbonic gas. Nevertheless, resorption of this gas is very fast, making its use tricky to keep a correct insulation during the whole thermal ablation process. Room air interposition is easy to use and can offer a slow resorption speed. Furthermore no datas are available concerning the use of room air whatever the organ protected, and the protection of central biliary tree whatever the gas used.
