AM is a naturally occurring peptide in the body and consists of 52 amino acids. AM belongs to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) superfamily and has several structural, physiological and pharmacological similarities to CGRP, intermdine and amylin. Migraine is a common and possible hereditary disease. Copy number variation (CNV) is a phenomenon in which parts of the genome are repeated and the number of repeats in the genome varies between individuals in the human population.The CHRNA7 gene has a major role in the neuropsychiatric phenotypes observed in patients. The 15q13.3 gain/loss variation in this gene may be associated with migraine.

Neurophysiology of Prophylactic Treatment in Migraine

Migraine

This study aims to improve the pathophysiological understanding of migraine in in a longitudinal observational study investigating changes of established neurophysiological and imaging parameters in line with changes of the clinical phenotype. The study's focus is the investigation of mechanisms that are directly related to the cyclic character of migraine and its core structures. In this context, the primary endpoint is a change in the nociceptive blink reflex, an established brain stem reflex to study the trigemino-spinal system, associated with changes in migraine frequency and severity. In order to reliably detect changes in the trigeminal pain system, investigations are performed in patients before starting a prophylactic therapy and 3 months afterwards. Several secondary endpoints are used to evaluate changes of multimodal sensory and cortical information processing. Cerebral imaging will include examinations of structural and network effects of altered migraine disease activity.

Improved Treatment Course for Patients With Migraine and Tension-type Headache

The purpose of the study is to improve treatment for newly referred patients with migraine and tension-type headache to the Danish Headache Center. All patients will recieve an electronic questionnaire just before the first visit concerning their current and previous history of headache and headache treatment. Half of them will enter a special telephone-intervention (TeII) program with two planned phone-calls after 8 and 16 weeks from first visit. The other half of patients will follow the normal follow-up program. All patients will be seen by a headache specialist after 6 months and will be asked to fill in a follow-up electronic questionnaire.

Comparison of Two Different Migraine Acupuncture Treatment

Migraine

Headache is one of the most common clinical problems. Conventional drug therapy is more successful when complementary and integrative medicine approaches are combined to conventional treatment, as traditional Chinese medicine (TKM). The success of acupuncture therapy depends on the selection of acupuncture points according to TKM pathological mechanisms. Correct selection of points are needed to treat migraine headaches.Acupuncture reduces the consumption of analgesics. In this prospective, randomised study we will compered two methods of acupuncture stimulation: in the control group, all patients will receive the same local points, commonly used to treat migraine in our department, in the study group, local points will be selected according to the site of the headache.

Executive functions, anxiety and their relation to social participation and quality of life among children with Migraine during COVID-19 Backgrounds: Among children, especially adolescents, migraine stands out as one of the most prevalent headache disorders. It is susceptible to stress and has the potential to affect children's emotional and cognitive status and therefore, affect their function, and notably amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Study Objective: To compare executive functions (EF), anxiety, social participation and quality of life (QoL) between children with migraine and healthy controls, and to examine the differences of these factors between children who were infected by COVID-19 and those who were not. Study Population: The research will include 75 children between the ages of 6 and 18 years, diagnosed with Migraine, who are under follow-up at the Pediatric Neurology Clinic in Bnei Zion. A control group of 75 children without chronic diseases, assessed during routine visits at the Pediatric Neurology Clinic or for other reasons, will also be included. Research Methods: Participants will complete questionnaires related to demographic details, quality of life, sleep, and emotional status. Inclusion Criteria: Children between the ages of 6 and 18 years with Migraine. Exclusion Criteria: Children unable or unwilling to complete the questionnaires, and those with secondary headaches or other chronic illness. Hypothalamus Connectivity in Chronic and Episodic Migraine

Chronic Migraine

The purpose is to compare, using functional magnetic resonance imagery in resting-state, the connectivity of the hypothalamus in 2 groups of migraineurs. The first group is composed of chronic migraineurs, studied outside a migraine attack and is compared to gender- and age- matched episodic migraineurs with very few attacks per month and studied in the attack-free period. The primary outcome will be the connectivity index of the hypothalamus to brainstem areas activated during migraine attacks and to the trigeminal-cervical complex.
