Exploring Clinical Trial Experiences of Patients With Migraine
MigraineMigraine DisordersClinical study participation has historically been heavily biased toward specific demographics. This study will invite several participants to gather a wide range of information on clinical trial experiences for migraine patients. The aim of the study is to identify the factors that limit the ability of a person to enroll in, as well as complete a clinical trial for treatment of migraine. People with migraine who are invited to take part in medical research will benefit from the analysis of the data.
Feasibility of a Developmentally-tailored Mobile App for Tracking Mood and Pain in Children With...
Primary Headache DisorderThis study aims to inform the continued development of a mobile app intended to support the treatment of CYP with migraine. After extensive public and patient involvement, Happyr Health has developed a mobile app that allows children and young people to track headache attacks and emotional wellbeing and to access coping techniques. With the use of gamification and storytelling elements, the app aims to engage children to be an active part in tracking and coping with their headaches. The outcomes of this study will inform future adaptations and development cycles of the Happyr Health app. 15 participants aged 10-16 will access the Happyr app for 8 weeks (= intervention). Primary outcomes of acceptability and implementation will be measured via surveys following the 8-week intervention in the app.
Melatonin for Adolescent Migraine Prevention Study
MigraineThis will be a randomized, multi-site double-blind placebo-controlled trial of melatonin (2 different dosing arms) vs. placebo for migraine prevention in adolescents. We intend to enroll approximately 210 participants over 15 months at two sites: UCLA and UCSF. The duration of participation for each participant will be 4 months.
Treatment of Cervical Pain in Chronic Migraine
Chronic MigraineChronic migraine (CM) is defined as a headache that occurs more than 15 days per month, which has the features of migraine headache on at least 8 days per month.1 The cause of CM is not well understood. Many patients with CM appear to have associated musculoskeletal neck pain. The purpose of this study is to treat cervicalgia in patients with migraine and to look for improvement in migraine frequency and intensity. Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) can diagnose and treat common musculoskeletal dysfunction. This may break facilitation within the nervous system and reduce musculoskeletal pain which subsequently will reduce headache frequency. This will be a randomized controlled trail comparing patients with CM treated with OMT vs no treatment. The investigators will look at the frequency of migraine days before and after the treatment period to determine migraine frequency and improvement.

High-field MR Imaging in Migraine and Epilepsy
MigraineEpilepsyIn this project, the aim is to recruit patients with drug resistant epilepsy and those suffering from migraine. Interestingly, patients suffering from epilepsy are also more often reporting to suffer from migraine. The pathobiology is understudied, but it is believed that both etiologies results from brain networks changes. A clinical certified 7T Terra Siemens scanner will be employed to assess in all participants (including healthy controls) how the microstructure differs in disease specific areas. Patients will further be clinically assessed as well as undergo questionnaires.
International Headache Registry Study
Headache DisordersPrimary7 moreIn the International Headache and Vertigo Registration Study, patients aged 4-99 years with headache (primary headache and secondary headache such as migraine and tension type headache), vertigo (vertigo diseases such as vestibular migraine) and chronic pain (fibromyalgia and other diseases) were collected. The biomarkers, imaging features, right-to-left shunt of the heart (lung), genetic characteristics, treatment, and outcome (in relation to other diseases) of headache-related diseases were studied, and long-term follow-up was planned.
Optical Coherence Tomography Findings in Migraine
Migraine With AuraMigraine Without AuraThis study aims to detect changes in RNFL thickness in patients with different types of migraine in comparison to healthy control. This will be accomplished by comparing the optic nerve head (ONH) parameters, RNFL thickness, and ocular perfusion pressure (OPP) in migraine patients with age and sex matched healthy control.
Zonisamide for Fibromyalgia & Migraine
FibromyalgiaMigrainePatients with fibromyalgia & migraine are randomized to receive zonisamide or placebo.
