Development and Validation of a Self-administered QUestionnaire to Identify Levers of Adhesion Behavior...

Patient Education as TopicSurveys and Questionnaires6 more

Medication non-adherence is an economic problem and a major public health challenge. Factors influencing medication adherence can be modelled according to five dimensions: disease, medication, patient and its close relatives, demographic and socioeconomic factors and health care system. A tool is needed to qualify medication adherence in order to adapt tailored support for individual patients to promote and optimize adherence to therapy. The objective of this work is to present the preliminary results of QUILAM project which is divided into 3 phases: 1. Development of a tool to assess barriers to medication adherence in chronic patient (COPD, Heart failure, Type 2 diabetes) ; 2. Validation of the instrument (especially against clinical criteria) ; 3. Evaluation of the sensitivity of the tool during educational interventions.

Cardiovascular Outcomes in Bariatric Surgery Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

ObesityType2 Diabetes1 more

The objective of the analysis was to evaluate the relationship between bariatric surgery and cardiovascular outcomes in obese patients with type 2 diabetes. This is a retrospective matched cohort study of patients with diabetes that underwent bariatric surgery at the Cleveland Clinic between 2004-2017. Each bariatric patient was matched to a non-surgical control with obesity and type 2 diabetes in a 1:5 ratio using data from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The maximum observation time was 10 years. Cumulative incidence rates for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events were calculated at years 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10. Kaplan-Meier curves were created for all the outcomes with all-cause mortality considered as a completing risk.

Phenotyping Individuals With Neo-diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes at Risk for All-cause Mortality

Type 2 DiabetesVascular Diseases1 more

Prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is increasing worldwide over the last two decades; in these patients the rate of all-cause and cardiovascular (CV) mortality is several folds higher than in the general population, configuring a major public health problem. The clinical phenotype is the main determinant of such high mortality risk; however, a relevant role is played by the disease duration, with a significant interaction with metabolic control. However, for T2D the diagnosis does not correspond to the true onset of the disease, and a high lethality rate also in patients with recent onset of the disease cannot be excluded. Robust evidence supports this hypothesis, showing as in subjects with new-onset T2D, the mortality risk is superimposable, and even higher, than that observed in people with overt and long-term T2D. In this complex scenario, it would be desirable an early identification of high-risk patients, in which an accurate estimation of risk of complications, coupled with appropriate and timely interventions, might help in reducing the risk of encountering premature mortality. The present study was design to address this specific issue.

Phenotypes and Outcomes of Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction in Patients With Hypertension...

Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection FractionDiabetes Mellitus2 more

Our study is the first multicenter study in Vietnam on clinical phenotypes of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in patients with concurrent type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and hypertension (HTN). The purpose of this study is to identify different phenotypes of the Vietnamese HFpEF-HTN-T2DM population, as well as the association of these phenotypes with long-term outcomes.

Study to Learn More About Outcomes Reported by Patients Suffering From Type 2 Diabetes Using a Digital...

Diabetes MellitusType 2

In this study researchers want to gain more information on patients who are treated with Metformin for their Type 2 Diabetes. Adult female and male patients with a prescription of a Metformin containing drug will be invited to the study in a public pharmacy after the decision for treatment with Metformin has been made by the treating physician. The pharmacist will provide interested participants access to a special phone App and participants are asked to complete via this phone App a questionnaire on their health situation with special focus on their Type 2 Diabetes. This includes questions on complications and self-care activities in relation to their diabetes, questions on quality of life and health history. There will be no extra visit to the treating doctor or a pharmacy. The study is aiming to have the questionnaire completed by 300 participants.
