Oxygenation of Paravertebral Muscles During Exercise in Chronic Low Back Pain Patients

Low Back PainRehabilitation Program1 more

The study evaluate paraspinal aerobic metabolism of chronic low back pain patients and healthy people during an original and standardized isokinetic protocol. The aim of this study is to determine a potential alteration of muscular aerobic metabolism in low back pain patients, in order to establish the underlying cause of pain and muscular fatigability characterizing low back pain patients. Then, the aim is to determine if functional rehabilitation program can improve it. the unit of care have access to metabolic adaptations in measuring the muscular oxygenation and the pulmonary oxygen consumption, using near infrared spectroscopy and gas analyser.

Effects of Mobility Dose in Surgical Intensive Care Unit Patients

SarcopeniaMuscle Weakness1 more

The primary aim of this study is to assess if the mobility dose that patients receive in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) predicts adverse discharge disposition (primary endpoint), and muscle wasting diagnosed by bedside ultrasound (secondary endpoint).

Muscle in Acromegaly and Cushing's Syndrome

Cushing SyndromeAcromegaly

Cushing's syndrome (CS) and acromegaly determine myopathy and muscle weakness which persist long-term after control of hormone excess. Fatty infiltration in skeletal muscle (myosteatosis) is associated with muscle atrophy, frailty, and increased morbidity and mortality in several human models. The study is aimed at evaluating muscle structure in patients with controlled CS and acromegaly, and correlate it with functional tests of muscle strength. In addition, circulating molecules potentially mediating persistent myopathy in these patients will also be assessed.

Influence of Minimally Invasive Thymectomy on the Subsequent Clinical Course of Myasthenia Gravis...

Myasthenia Gravis

The aim of this study is to investigate whether minimally invasive thymectomy achieves comparable efficacy and safety results compared to open thymectomy in patients with myasthenia gravis. The planned investigation is a multicenter observational study based on retrospective (present patient data) and prospective data (questionable outcome data). Primary hypothesis: Minimally invasive thymectomy is not inferior to open thymectomy in terms of efficacy and safety (non-inferiority study).

Effects of Mobility Dose on Discharge Disposition in Critically Ill Stroke Patients

SarcopeniaStroke3 more

The primary aim of the study is to assess the mobility dose in neurocritical care patients with ischemic stroke or intracranial hemorrhage and its effects on discharge disposition and patient outcomes. The investigators hypothesize that patients' mobilization dose in the intensive care unit (ICU) predicts discharge disposition, 90 day Barthel Index and other outcomes like muscle wasting (expressed as decrease in rectus femoris cross sectional area (RF-CSA) in the paretic and non-paretic limb measured by bedside ultrasound), and ICU length of stay (LOS).

Efgartigimod Expanded Access for Generalized Myasthenia Gravis

Generalized Myasthenia Gravis

This expanded access protocol applies to patients with gMG who are not enrolled in an ongoing clinical trial. The aim of the trial is to provide patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG), who are ineligible to participate in a clinical trial, access to efgartigimod treatment before regulatory approval. There are country-specific protocols and also individual use EAP. Recruitment for the treatment protocol in US is now closed (ARGX-113-EAP-2101).

Abdominal Muscle Thickness in Mechanically Ventilated Patients

Muscle WeaknessWeaning Failure

The purpose of the study is to determine to what extent the abdominal muscles contribute to airway pressure, in order to investigate the correlation between muscles weakness and extubation outcome in mechanically ventilated patients. In addition the reliability of the sonographic measurements will be assessed.
