High Intensity Laser Therapy in the Treatment of Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain

High intensity laser therapy (HILT) has been considered as a treatment option for shoulder pain. In randomized controlled studies with high-intensity laser therapy (HILT), there are publications showing its effectiveness in conditions such as shoulder pathologies such as subacromial impigment syndrome and adhesive capsulitis. However, there are few studies in the literature that focus on the effectiveness of HILT, especially in hemiplegic shoulder pain. In this study, we intended to investigate the effectiveness of HILT on pain, disability, function and quality of life in patients with HSP accompanied by PTRCT.

Trial of an Exercise Intervention for Children With Haemophilia

"Being able to participate in games and activities with their friends" is one of the things that matters most to boys with haemophilia. At present, there is a lack of robust evidence to determine whether muscle strengthening exercise can improve or negatively affect outcomes for young children with haemophilia. With the help of boys with haemophilia, their parents and physiotherapists the investigators have developed an exercise programme designed to increase muscle strength. Using this intervention the investigators will undertake a single-blinded, two-arm pragmatic randomised controlled trial (RCT) of a 12-week intervention verses usual care of boys with haemophilia aged 6-12 years of age.

To date, there has only be one completed randomized controlled trial with quad tendon to BTB and the tendon included a bone plug. There has been no study to date comparing an all soft tissue quad tendon to patellar tendon in a randomized controlled trial for ACL reconstruction.

Ultrasound-guided FICB for Proximal Femoral Osteotomy in Pediatric Patients

This prospective randomized controlled trial aims to examine the effect of fascia iliaca compartment block on the postoperative pain and opioid consumption in pediatric patients (3y≤ age <18y) who will undergo orthopedics surgery (proximal femoral osteotomy). Patients will be allocated to either the FICB(Fascia iliaca compartment block + IV PCA) group or the control group (no block + IV PCA). Fascia iliaca compartment block will be performed using 0.25% ropivacaine (1mL/kg, MAX 30mL) under ultrasound-guidance at the end of surgery. The total opioid consumption at 12, and 24 hours after the surgery, and the pain score at 10 min after PACU admin, 1,6,24 hours after the surgery, the total dose of additional rescue analgesia (intravenous ketorolac or nalbuphine) at 12 and 24 hours after the surgery will be recorded.

To identify the benefits from regional anesthesia use as pain management in the pediatric population by delineating the differences in efficacy of continuous nerve blockade versus single-shot techniques after pediatric orthopaedic limb procedures. By doing this, the investigators can determine if specific anesthetic techniques should become a standard of care in pain management for the pediatric population and supersede the need for opioid medication.
