Beclomethasone Dipropionate in Preventing Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients Undergoing...
Hematopoietic/Lymphoid CancerAccelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia135 moreRATIONALE: Beclomethasone dipropionate may be effective in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing a stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well beclomethasone dipropionate works in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients undergoing a donor stem cell transplant for hematologic cancer.
Determination of Safe and Effective Dose of Romiplostim (AMG 531) in Subjects With Myelodysplastic...
MDSMyelodysplastic Syndromes1 moreThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Romiplostim (AMG 531) on the incidence of clinically significant thrombocytopenic events (grade 3 or 4 and/or receipt of platelet transfusions) in subjects with low or intermediate risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) receiving hypomethylating agents. It is hypothesized that Romiplostim administration, at the appropriate dose and schedule, will result in reduction in the incidence of clinically significant thrombocytopenic events in low or intermediate risk MDS subjects receiving hypomethylating agents.
Sirolimus, Tacrolimus, and Methotrexate in Preventing Acute Graft-Versus-Host Disease in Patients...
Chronic Myeloproliferative DisordersGraft Versus Host Disease5 moreRATIONALE: Sirolimus, tacrolimus, and methotrexate may be effective in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients who are undergoing donor stem cell transplantation. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects of sirolimus when given together with tacrolimus and methotrexate and to see how well they work in preventing acute graft-versus-host disease in patients who are undergoing donor stem cell transplantation for hematologic cancer.
Music Therapy to Ease Pain and Emotional Distress in Patients With Hematologic Cancer Who Are Undergoing...
Anxiety DisorderChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders5 moreRATIONALE: Music therapy may be effective in relieving pain and emotional distress in patients who are undergoing cancer therapy. PURPOSE: Randomized trial to determine the effectiveness of music therapy to ease pain and emotional distress in patients with hematologic cancer who are undergoing high-dose therapy and stem cell transplantation.
Dalteparin to Prevent Complications in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy Through a Catheter...
Cervical CancerChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders8 moreRATIONALE: The use of dalteparin may be able to prevent complications caused by the use of a catheter to supply chemotherapy to cancer patients. It is not yet known if dalteparin is effective in reducing these complications. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to determine the effectiveness of dalteparin in preventing catheter-related complications in cancer patients who are receiving chemotherapy through a catheter.
Vorinostat, Tacrolimus, and Methotrexate in Preventing GVHD After Stem Cell Transplant in Patients...
Accelerated Phase Chronic Myelogenous LeukemiaAdult Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Remission118 moreThis pilot phase II trial studies how well giving vorinostat, tacrolimus, and methotrexate works in preventing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after stem cell transplant in patients with hematological malignancies. Vorinostat, tacrolimus, and methotrexate may be an effective treatment for GVHD caused by a bone marrow transplant.
Refining a Biobehavioral Intervention to Enhance Recovery Following Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation...
Hodgkin's LymphomaLeukemia5 moreThe goal of this project is to refine and evaluate the feasibility of a brief, behavioral intervention to improve the recovery following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Cancer patients who were treated with HSCT will learn behavioral techniques to improve sleep and increase daytime activity with the goal of alleviating insomnia, fatigue, and depression after HSCT. If the intervention is feasible and acceptable to patients, a future study will test the effects in a larger trial, with the long-term goal of improving the care and quality of life of cancer survivors recovering from HSCT.
Safety & Efficacy of Atorvastatin for Prophylaxis of Acute Graft Versus Host Disease in Patients...
Acute Myelogenous LeukemiaAcute Lymphocytic Leukemia1 morePhase II trial evaluating the safety & efficacy of Atorvastatin for prophylaxis of Acute Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD) in patients with hematological malignances undergoing human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-Matched Related Donor Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT).
Personalized Information or Basic Information in Helping Patients Make Decisions About Participating...
Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChronic Myeloproliferative Disorders8 moreRATIONALE: Providing information that is tailored to answer patients' questions about clinical trials may help patients with cancer decide to enroll in a clinical trial. It is not known whether providing personalized information is more effective than basic information in helping patients make decisions about clinical trials. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying personalized information to see how well it works compared with basic information in helping patients make decisions about participating in a clinical trial.
Romiplostim Treatment of Thrombocytopenia in Subjects With Low or Intermediate-1 Risk Myelodysplastic...
MDSMyelodysplastic Syndromes1 moreThe Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) for study 20060198 recommended that all subjects discontinue treatment of study drug and continue to be followed for long term follow-up. Amgen adopted the DMC recommendation.
