Postural Exercises in Women With Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaIn the current study, the investigators aimed to study: The proprioception status of patients with FMS. The effectiveness of a postural exercise program in women with fibromyalgia for 8 weeks (2 sessions per week), compared to a low impact aerobic exercise program on different parameters, such as proprioception, balance, muscle strength, flexibility and joint range.
Evolution of Myofascial Pain, Post-dry Needling. Repair and Measuring With Elastography, of Myofascial...
Myofascial Pain SyndromesDry Needling2 moreThis study evaluates the deep dry needling technique as a percutaneous technique included in the professional field of physiotherapy. The project quantifies a significant limit on the number of local twitch responses necessary for the favorable treatment of myofascial pain and analyzes the injury degree and/or the repair of myofascial tissue, with "Elastography".
The Effect of Vibration Therapy Over Neck Myofascial Trigger Points
Myofascial Trigger Point PainNeck PainThe aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of a self-administered vibration therapy treatment on neck pain, disability and pressure pain thresholds in patients with non-specific neck pain and myofascial trigger points (MTrPs). The investigators hypothesized that patients receiving vibration therapy would report less perceived neck pain, disability and present higher PPTs after receiving vibration therapy when compared to a control no-treatment group.
Effects of Physical Therapy in Pain and Posture of Fibromyalgia Patients
FibromyalgiaThe aim of this study is to compare the effects of two physiotherapeutic treatments of fibromyalgia: global postural reeducation associated with cognitive behavioral therapy and segmental muscle stretching exercises associated with cognitive behavioral therapy.
Strengthening Exercises for Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaObjective: We evaluated the effectiveness of strengthening exercises using the Swiss ball in patients with fibromyalgia (FM). Material and Method: Sixty FM patients were randomized into two groups: an intervention group (IG), in which patients performed muscle strength exercises using the Swiss ball, and a stretching group (SG), in which patients performed stretching exercises. All patients participated in 40-minute training sessions three times per week for 12 weeks. The IG performed the following eight strengthening exercises using a Swiss ball: lateral rise, simultaneous biceps curl, squat, two arms triceps extension, abdominal, one arm dumbbell row, reverse crucifix and crucifix. The SG performed exercises targeting the same muscle groups trained in IG. Outcome measures were as follows: visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, 1 repetition maximum test for muscle strength; fibromyalgia impact questionnaire (FIQ) to evaluate disease impact, and short form health survey (SF-36) to assess quality of life. All participants underwent an evaluation at baseline, at 6 weeks and at 12 weeks of training. The assessor was blind to patient allocation.
Effects of Traditional Thai Massage on Pain and Pain Related Parameters in Patients With Upper Back...
Myofascial Pain SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Thai massage on pain related parameters including Pain intensity, 24 hours pain intensity, Pressure pain threshold, anxiety, muscle tension, cervical range of motion, pain frequency, patient satisfaction and side effect in patients with chronic upper back pain associated with myofascial trigger points
Effects of Thai Massage on EMG
Myofascial Pain SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Thai massage on electromyogram in patients with chronic upper back pain associated with myofascial trigger points.
Injection With OnabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) for the Treatment of Chronic Pelvic Pain
Myofascial Pain SyndromesMyofascial Trigger Point Pain2 moreThis research study because is looking at woman with symptoms of chronic pelvic pain caused by short, tight, and tender pelvic floor muscles (Myofascial Pelvic Pain syndrome). The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not injections with onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) improve symptoms of pain and tenderness. The drug being studied, Botox is FDA approved for other uses. However, Botox is not FDA approved for the use in myofascial pelvic pain (MPP). Therefore, Botox is considered experimental or research in this study.
Physiotherapy and Deontology in the Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction in Patients With Fibromyalgia...
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction SyndromeThe purpose of this study is to determine whether kinesitherapy techniques and a myofascial therapy protocol are effective in the treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome.
The Effects of CBT and tDCS on Fibromyalgia Patients
FibromyalgiaChronic PainInvestigators are seeking to determine the effects of CBT, anodal tDCS over left DLPFC, and combined CBT+ tDCS on clinical pain and functioning among a sample of patients with fibromyalgia. This study will be the first randomized, double-blind, controlled study of tDCS technology as an adjunctive pain management strategy for fibromyalgia pain. Data from this trial will likely yield information regarding the feasibility and efficacy of tDCS+CBT as a chronic pain-management approach.
