Understanding Health Services Delivery for Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaFibromyalgia3 moreThis research study aims to: i) Explore and understand how health and social care for people with fibromyalgia living in the UK is organised and delivered. ii) Identify models of practice to inform co-design of new care pathways for people with fibromyalgia living in the UK. To do this, up to ten UK-based case studies will be conducted in total: at least one each in England, Scotland and Wales. Interviews will be conducted with approximately 10 participants per case study, for a total of 100 participant interviews. Qualitative observations (in-person or on-line) will be conducted with a similar number of people (total 100 participants). Online focus groups will also be carried out with approximately 6 to 8 participants per group (up to ten groups for a total 60-80 participants). Participants will include healthcare professionals (for example, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals), social care practitioners (for example, social prescribers), service delivery managers, commissioners and other individuals involved in the organisation and delivery of health and social care services for people with fibromyalgia living in the UK.
Kinesiophobia, Quality of Life, and Cognitive Functions in Fibromyalgia Syndrome
FibromyalgiaKinesiophobia1 moreAlthough one of the most evidence-based treatment protocols is based on exercise strategies in patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome, fear and avoidance of physical activity; named 'Kinesiophobia' may hinder the patients from the exercises. Cognitive dysfunctions are seen frequently in Fibromyalgia Syndrome. The aim of this study, to assess the relationship between kinesiophobia and cognitive functions, disease severity, quality of life, physical activity level, pain intensity, and anxiety/depression level in Fibromyalgia patients. Additionally, the investigators aimed to compare the kinesiophobia level and cognitive functions between patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome and control subjects.
Retrospective Study of Psychoattitudinal Patterns in Patients With Fibromyalgia Receiving Antalgic...
AnalgesiaFibromyalgia3 moreFibromyalgia (FM) is a widespread and invalidating disease that requires a multidisciplinary approach. Particularly, the psychiatric component seems to influence the algological management of these patients. Since January 2018, the HADS, SF-36, IMSA, TCI psycho-attitudinal questionnaires have been introduced in the Pain Therapy unit of Policlinico Sant'Orsola-Malpighi in an attempt to improve the care of patients diagnosed with FM. The aim of the study is to identify, through retrospective evaluation of TCI tests and its subdomains, compiled by patients with FM diagnosis, Pain Avoidance and Pain Persistance personality patterns, indicated in the literature. Anxiety and Depression incidence is also observed through retrospective evaluation of HADS tests. Patients in the Antalgic Therapy Outpatient Clinic diagnosed with FM, aged ≥18 years, who have completed selfadministered psychoattitudinal tests from January 2018 to January 2019 were considered. The data were collected in aggregate and extrapolated anonymously.

DysphoniaFibromyalgia1 moreOur aim in conducting this study is to determine the relationship between voice disorders and anxiety in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome (FS).
QEEG and Qualitative EEG for the Identidification of Abnormal Patterns in Fibromyalgia Patients...
FibromyalgiaFibromyalgia is a relatively young condition recently recognized by the WHO as a separated clinical entity. Part of the medical comunity thinks of it as a mixed condition between depresion and rheumatic pain, however, functional data provided by sophisticated imaging techniques points at a diminished brain activity in several brain regions. The present study aims to characterize those findings by means of QEEG in order to establish the electroencephalographic characteristics of fibromyalgia patients.
Quantitative EEG During PSG in Patients With and Without Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaThe purpose of this study is to retrospectively analyze Clinical and Nocturnal Polysomnographic Data (Overnight Sleep Studies) in patients with and without Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome associated with dysfunctional sleep, fatigue, frequent awakenings, non-refreshing sleep, and alpha frequency intrusions. Quantitative EEG during routine Nocturnal Polysomnography can be used to assess Alpha/Delta sleep. Hypothesis: Alpha intrusions may be an objective marker for Fibromyalgia and may correlate with current clinical American College of Rheumatology Criteria for the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.
Association Between Hypermobility and Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain
HypermobilityJoint4 moreStudy hypothesis:- Benign joint hyper mobility syndrome which persists into adulthood is a special type of benign joint hyper mobility which is more likely to predispose to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Young Indian adults aged between 25 and 40 years who are blood donors or relatives of patients admitted as inpatient or presenting to the out patient department, in Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences will be enrolled, after excluding the exclusionary criteria. They will be assessed for the presence of chronic musculoskeletal pain using a validated self filled questionnaire. The primary investigator who will be blinded to their response will examine them for the presence of Benign Joint Hyper mobility Syndrome and for tender points suggestive of fibromyalgia. Primary Objective:- To determine whether chronic musculoskeletal pain is associated with Hypermobility among Indian adults. Study design:- Cross sectional survey

Effect of Transcranial Direct-current Stimulation in Attentional Performance and Pain in Patients...
FibromyalgiatDCS can modify the attentional response of patients with fibromyalgia. Methods: This study deals with a randomized, blind, crossover, controlled tDCS-sham. The sample will consist of 40 patients, divided into two groups with sham interventions and active crossover.
Computerized Cognitive Testing in Patients Suffering From Fibromyalgia
FibromyalgiaFibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a highly prevalent condition, often affecting individuals at the prime of life, causing severe reduction of quality of life and productivity, as well as social isolation, anxiety and depression. FMS is a condition characterized by chronic widespread pain, considered to be a manifestation of central nervous system sensitization, leading to increased processing and transmission of pain. At the same time however, it has become gradually more evident, that FMS is not merely a pain syndrome. Those patients who suffer from the full-blown clinical syndrome of FMS inevitably describe many additional symptoms beside pain. While some of these symptoms, such as heightened sensitivity to external stimulations (e.g. noise and light), can easily be understood as representing aspects of the basic underlying propensity towards central sensitization, other symptoms are not so easily explained in this context.
