Multi-Parametric MRI Assessment of the Liver in the Dallas-FortWorth Metroplex Population
Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseTo build a Registry of volunteers by inviting them to get a LiverMultiScan(LMS)and collecting their contact information to seek interest in participating in future studies.
Diagnostic Accuracy of the "LLIFT", a Novel Non-invasive Biomarker for the Diagnosis of Non Alcoholic...
ObesityNASH - Nonalcoholic SteatohepatitisThe NAFLD is the first cause of liver disease worldwide. The severe form of NAFLD, the NASH progresses to cirrhosis and is responsible of liver mortality. The diagnosis of NASH requires liver biopsy that cannot be used for the screening of the disease. The broad prevalence of the disease limits also the generalization of liver biopsy even for diagnosis. There is an urgent need for the use and the validation of liver diagnosis biomarkers for the diagnosis of NASH.
Prevalence, Incidence and Characteristics of NAFLD/NASH in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus
NAFLDType 1 Diabetes1 moreNonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition characterized by intrahepatic fat accumulation. It is closely related to insulin resistance. To date, it remains unclear whether NAFLD is common in patients with type 1 diabetes or if NAFLD translates into an increased health burden in this population. Screening for NAFLD is challenging due to the limitations of non-invasive diagnostic tools. Liver biopsy remains the gold standard but is not suited for routine screening or clinical studies. Therefore, there is a great demand for accurate non-invasive screening tools that can not only diagnose but also stage NAFLD. This study aims to generate a large cohort of thoroughly characterized type 1 diabetes patients screened for NAFLD using multiple non-invasive tools including MRI, ultrasound, controlled attenuation parameter, and score panels. We aim to generate a biobank to promote a research collaboration network in the field of non-invasive diagnosis of NAFLD. A secondary endpoint is to investigate the potential correlation between the presence of NAFLD and the occurrence of micro-or macrovascular complications in patients with diabetes.
Integrated Diagnostics for Early Diagnosis of Liver Disease
Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseNon-alcoholic Steatohepatitis2 moreThis is an observational study that will explore the hypothesis that by combining data from patients with liver disease with novel blood biomarkers, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis and faecal microbiome analysis. The Investigators will improve diagnosis of liver fibrosis compared to the current available diagnostic tools.

Nonalcoholic Fatty LiverNonalcoholic Steatohepatitis2 moreThis pilot study will evaluate conventional and investigational MR imaging and spectroscopic sequences and collect data to help plan more definitive future studies.
European Paediatric Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Registry (EU-PNAFLD)
Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseNon-alcoholic Fatty Liver1 moreThe EU-PNAFLD (The European Paediatric NALFD Registry) will be a network composed of European centres involved in the care of children with NAFLD, and will include Hepatologists, Endocrinologists, and Scientists, supported by relevant international specialists. This collaboration will build on existing infrastructure (local databases and bio-repositories) and will align with the adult European NAFLD Registry ("EPoS", Elucidating Pathways of Steatohepatitis study) to allow long-term follow-up supported by translational studies. Through an international, well-characterised large-scale cohort, we hope to: facilitate multi-centre clinical trials; extend our understanding of the key disease mechanisms of NAFLD; and establish the natural history of paediatric NAFLD.
Investigating Pathological Mechanisms in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseTo identify key characteristics of the tissue resident and peripherally circulating immune-phenotype in addition to blood markers, metabolic profile, faecal and oral microbiota in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Investigating the Link Between Type 2 Immunity and NAFLD in Human Obesity
ObesityMorbid2 moreThis study is being done to better understand the relationship between inflammation in adipose tissue (AT), abnormal deposition of fat around the liver and how this affects its appearance and function and ultimately insulin resistance.
Epigenetic Mechanisms and Severe Obesity (Biological Tissue Collection)
ObesityDiabetes2 moreThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of vitamin status and epigenetic mechanisms on severe obesity related-complications.
Early Detection of Advanced Fatty Liver Disease
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver DiseaseLiver FibrosisNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in the western world, affecting one in every three subjects. The investigators hypothesize that a patient population without known liver disease has a certain percentage of patients with liver fibrosis who are undiagnosed and not monitored.
