The Effect of Desloratadine and Levocetirizine on Nasal Obstruction (Study P03609)

Allergic Rhinitis

This was a study to measure the ability of desloratadine and levocetirizine to decrease nasal obstruction in subjects who had study-induced allergic rhinitis. Study participants had allergic rhinitis symptoms induced in a Vienna Challenge Chamber and then received desloratadine or levocetirizine for 8 days. After at least a 10 to 35-day washout period (time when no drug is given), subjects received the opposite treatment for 8 days. Subjects had their total nasal symptom measured.on the 8th day of each treatment period.

Randomized Clinical Trial of Nasal Turbinate Reduction to Improve Continuous Positive Airway Pressure...

Sleep Apnea SyndromesNasal Obstruction1 more

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs in 2-4% of middle age adults and results in significant morbidity and mortality. The first line therapy is provision of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) via a nasal mask chronically. Nasal resistance related to nasal turbinate enlargement may compromise CPAP treatment. This randomized double-blind sham-placebo-controlled trial tests the hypothesis that nasal turbinate reduction improves the nasal passage, CPAP use, and sleep apnea quality of life in newly diagnosed sleep apnea patients who are recommended CPAP therapy.

LATERA-OFFICE Study

Nasal Obstruction

Prospective, multicenter, nonrandomized, single-arm controlled study to obtain outcomes data in participants with severe to extreme class NOSE scores who are undergoing placement of the Spirox Latera Implant with or without concurrent turbinate reduction procedures in an office setting.

The Role of Spreader Flaps in Preventing of Nasal Obstruction

Nasal Obstruction

Nasal obstruction is a preventable complication of rhinoplasty, for which the spreader graft is the gold standard. More recently, the spreader flap technique has been espoused as an alternative to spreader grafting. Herein we evaluated the efficacy of this technique in a randomized trial setting.

Rhinopharyngeal Retrograde Clearance is Effective to Adequate Upper Airways Function in Adults

Nasal ObstructionExposure to Pollution

Professionals working in polluted areas may present increased clinical airways symptoms and dysfunction. Rhinopharyngeal retrograde clearance (RRC) has been used to improve mucus clearance in infants with bronchitis and bronchiolitis, and instillation the nasal cavity with saline has been used to reduce nasal inflammation in rhinitis and sinusopathies. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of RRC and RCC combined with saline (RRC+S) on nasal mucociliary clearance (MCC), mucus surface property, cellularity and airways symptoms in professional motorcyclists.

Levocetirizine in the Treatment of Nasal Obstruction Due to Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

The purpose of this study is to show that in patients suffering from perennial allergic rhinitis levocetirizine 5 mg OD relieves nasal obstruction. Furthermore the study is to investigate how relevant for these patients their nasal obstruction and the effect of levocetirizine on their nasal obstruction are.

Comparison of a Septal Stapler to Suture Closure in Nasal Septoplasty

Nasal Obstruction

The primary objective of this study is to determine if there is a time savings in the operating room by using a septal stapler instead of suture in closure of primary septoplasty. The secondary objectives are to determine the subjective outcome of patients undergoing closure with the septal stapler instead of suture via questionnaire, and to determine if there is a difference in postoperative complications between groups.
