A Study on Assessment of STELARA and Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha Inhibitor Therapies in Participants...

Psoriatic Arthritis

The purpose of this study is to evaluate treatment retention in psoriatic arthritis participants with STELARA or tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitor (TNFi) therapies in relation to effectiveness, safety, benefit/risk and to examine clinical response.

Modifications of the Subchondral Bone in Aseptic Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head

Femur Head Necrosis

In this study, the aim is to identify the modifications responsible for aseptic osteonecrosis of the femoral head and its structural evolution by the association of the micro scanner analysis and Raman spectrometry performed on the femoral heads removed during hip replacements. The study of femoral heads will allow the analysis of bone tissue at two different scales, both correlated with the biomechanical properties of the bone. Also, the association with preliminary MRI analysis will provide pathogenic explanations correlated to these modifications.

Fluorescence Angiography in the Assessment of DIEP Flap Perfusion

Breast CancerVascularization1 more

It is a single-center, prospective, randomized and controlled study focused in microsurgical autologous breast reconstruction. It involves applying indocyanine green (ICG) angiography for the study of the vascularization of DIEP flaps. The aim of the study is to determine whether there are differences in complications and aesthetic results when ICG is used to discard the poorly vascularized areas of the flap. The study includes adult women undergoing unilateral DIEP flap breast reconstruction. The calculated sample size is 60 patients. There are two groups. In group 1, the investigators use the usual clinical criteria to discard the poorly vascularized areas of the flap. In group 2, the investigators use the ICG to shape the flap.

PancRea: Risk Factors and Outcomes of Infected Pancreatic Necrosis

Acute Necrotizing PancreatitisInfection1 more

Severe acute pancreatitis is a common reason for intensive care unit (ICU) admission and is associated with prolonged hospital stays and high morbidity and mortality rates. The Atlanta classification differentiates mild, moderate, and severe acute pancreatitis, and each of these categories correlates with morbidity and mortality. Mortality remains high, between 10% and 39%, in severe and moderately severe acute pancreatitis. After the first week, about 30% of patients with necrotizing pancreatitis develop infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN). IPN is a risk factor for mortality. The treatment of IPN combines antibiotics with interventions to remove the infected intra-abdominal material, preferably using minimally invasive techniques such as percutaneous and endoscopic drainage, which have been proven beneficial. In several studies biological markers such as procalcitonin and interleukin 8 were effective in predicting IPN. However, few clinical risk factors for IPN have been reported. Identifying risk factors may help to improve standardized strategies for early diagnosis and treatment, and then patients outcome. Our primary objective was to identify risk factors for IPN in patients admitted to the ICU for acute pancreatitis. Our secondary objective was to describe the management and outcomes of IPN

Comparing the Efficacy of Periarticular Bone Structure in Patients Treated With Either Tocilizumab...

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Comparing the structural effects of TNFi and tocilizumab on the periarticular bone by performing a comprehensive analysis of the periarticular bone changes in RA patients treated with either TNFi or tocilizumab in a longitudinal Setting, using high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT), a very sensitive method for visualizing and quantifying bone microstructure in RA patients. Quantitatively assessing the changes of erosions volume, osteophytes size and the area of cortical fenestration in a group of TNFi-treated and a group of tocilizumab- treated RA patients.

Femoral Neck Fracture in Adult and Avascular Necrosis and Nonunion

Femoral Neck FracturesAvascular Necrosis

One of the most serious sequelae of femoral neck fractures (FNFs) is avascular necrosis (AVN) and nonunion, and this translates to a significant morbidity and mortality. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the etiologies and management of FNFs in our institution and its relationship to the development of AVN or nonunion.

Skin Flap NecrosisPerfusion; Complications

Primary Objective: Demonstrate that the IC-Flow Imaging device with Indocyanine Green (ICG) is a feasible technique when visualizing and identifying perfusion of organs when compared to The KARL STORZ VITOM II ICG System during open reconstructive surgical procedures Secondary Objective: Evaluate the mean Assessment of handling properties using The IC- Flow versus The VITOM II. Evaluate the mean Surgeon preference Level using The IC- Flow tower, The IC-Flow Hand-held device versus The VITOM II.

A Clinical Investigation of the Discovery™ Elbow System

OsteoarthritisRheumatoid Arthritis2 more

The purpose of this study is to perform a five-year, multi-center prospective evaluation of the Discovery™ Elbow System for outcome and durability. Relief of pain and restoration of function will determine long-term clinical outcome while durability will be measured by the absence of revisions.
