In our previous research, we have shown that women that have breast cancer have a population of lymphocytes that recognizes specific antigen and there cytoplasmic matrix goes through physical change a short time after exposure in vitro to the same antigen. This change can be measured by polarization changes of fluorescent light emitted by FDA (fluorescein diacetate) labeled cells. Further test that we performed showed that those differences are also shown in a benign situation that known as indicator for a high risk for developing breast cancer within 10-15 years. The incidence of the expression of these lymphocytes correlates with the histopathological picture as it is related in high risk for the developing the disease. In this work we will expand the scope of the procedure to early detection of the cancerous process in breast lesions by Fitzgibbon's risk categories for the development invasive carcinoma of the breast. Use of Bone Scintigraphy, CT and MRI in Breast Cancer

A new imaging modality combining CT and tomographic bone scintigraphy (SPECT/CT) has enabled the combination of functional and anatomical imaging. Its use in cancer patients has not yet been evaluated or validated against a relative gold stand or clinical follow up. The purposes of this study are: 1: to validate the use of conventional planar bone scintigraphy and SPECT combined with low-dose or diagnostic CT and compare this to 3 Tesla MRI and clinical follow up. 2: to compare the specificity of low-dose and diagnostic CT, respectively, combined with bone SPECT. 3: to construct an algorithm for optimal evaluation of disease dissemination in breast cancer patients

Circulating Osteocalcin-positive Cells in Breast Cancer Bone Metastasis

Bone metastasis (i.e. cancer cell spreading to bone) is the major clinical problem of advanced breast cancer patients. Bone metastasis is not curable nor preventable. Currently available therapeutic approaches are only palliative. The major hurdle for improving bone metastasis treatment is lack of sensitive diagnostic tools. Diagnosis of bone metastasis is heavily dependent on radiographic imaging of bone destruction that are detectable only when the lesion is significantly large. Accordingly, if bone metastasis can be detected at an earlier time point when bone destruction is minimal or incipient, treatments can be given earlier and the patients can expect better outcomes. We and others previously have found that a subset of bone-forming cells (i.e. circulating osteocalcin-positive cells) exists in the blood stream of the patients with bone diseases (e.g. bone metastasis and inflammation) or active bone formation (e.g. adolescence) in mouse models anf human samples. Extended from this laboratory observation, this clinical study proposes to test the hypothesis that circulating osteocalcin-positive cells are the early biomarker of breast cancer bone metastasis. For this aim, this study will measure circulating osteocalcin-positive cells in the blood samples of breast cancer patient, and examine whether the measure sensitively detects bone metastasis.

The goal of this study is to evaluate the Salah Azaïz Cancer Institute male breast cancer patients population over a period of 14 years. Goal of the retrospective part: to gather clinicopathologic data and follow-up outcomes of male breast cancer patients diagnosed and/or treated at Salah Azaïz Cancer Institute from 2004 to 2013. Goal of the prospective part: to create a registry of male patients with breast cancer for a period of 48 months (from 2014 to 2017).

Via a proprietary algorithm, the MammoAlert™ is expected to determine breast cancer's risk level for a subject by identifying the presence in plasma of known biomarkers. The present study aims to determine the Sensitivity and Specificity of the test in plasma samples of subjects of whom the status vis-à-vis breast cancer is known.
