Breast PET may be able to help in the diagnostic pathway in patients to determine which ones need to go on to have a second look ultrasound +/- biopsy and those who need to be sent for MRI guided biopsy. This may reduce the need to create more anxiety and uncertainty in this group of patients, already extremely stressed by the recent diagnosis of breast cancer.This study involves a single trial visit the Royal Free Hospital for imaging. Participants will need to lie flat for up to 30 minutes on the PET-CT camera and up to 30 minutes on the MAMMI. They will be advised not to take part in this study if they are unable to lie flat on their back and their front for this length of time or if they are claustrophobic. They will be offered the opportunity to see the PET-CT scanner and the MAMMI before deciding to consent to the trial.

This clinical trial studies a cardiac rehabilitation program in improving cardiorespiratory fitness in stage 0-III breast cancer survivors. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death of women in both the general population and the breast cancer survivor population. There are many risk factors common to both heart disease and breast cancer development, including physical inactivity. A cardiac rehabilitation program may help improve cardiorespiratory fitness, reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors, and improve quality of life among breast cancer survivors.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and cultural sensitivity of a cross-cultural cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) multi-symptom management protocol targeting distress (anxiety, depression), pain, and fatigue in women with advanced stage breast cancer in Singapore and the US.

This randomized comparative effectiveness trial examines the potential psychosocial and physical health-related benefits of sharing personal websites with other women with breast cancer, as well as with family and friends (PCO PLUS condition) versus sharing with family and friends only (PCO condition) in a sample of women with metastatic breast cancer.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and the effectiveness of a patient education program on patients' adherence to adjuvant hormone therapy (anti-estrogen or aromatase inhibitors) for breast cancer, in collaboration with teams of sociologists, patient education and medical oncologists.

A nurse-led care program for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in an outpatient setting was formulated. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of this nurse-led care program on cancer patients who received neo-adjuvant/adjuvant chemotherapy in a chemotherapy day center in terms of quality of life, symptom experiences, self-efficacy, health care utilization, and satisfaction with care. Specifically, the objectives are: To compare the differences of health care utilization between the two arms. To compare the differences of cancer patients' satisfaction with care between the two arms. To explore the experiences of cancer patients in the intervention arm. To understand the experiences of the intervention nurses of the program and their opinions on further development.

In patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer, radiation-induced skin toxicities are a common occurrence and adversely impact patients' quality of life (QOL). In the last decade, there have been no significant advances in preventing or treating radiation-induced skin toxicities. Recently, a phase III randomized trial by Herst et al. (n=78) in New Zealand showed that the prophylactic use of Mepitel Film reduced skin reaction severity by 92% compared to skin treated only with aqueous cream. Mepitel film has not been widely adopted in North America. To validate the efficacy of the film and guide the development of a larger multi-centre phase II study, a pilot study testing the efficacy of the film is proposed. In the study, 30 patients will have the film applied on their breast for the duration of radiation treatment and their skin reactions will be assessed throughout the treatment and after the treatment. The investigators hypothesize that the severity and incidence rates of skin reactions for patients using Mepitel film will be lower when compared to real world data from our centre, and that cosmetic outcomes will be improved with the film.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer worries are important determinants in relation to behavior favoring breast cancer screening. OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of theory-based training to promote breast cancer screening among women with high and low levels of breast cancer worries. DESIGN AND SETTING: Randomized controlled trial, conducted in two family health centers. METHODS: In total, 285 women were recruited. Women with low levels of breast cancer worries were included in the first intervention group (112 women) and the first control group (112 women), while women with high levels of breast cancer worries were included in the second intervention group (37 women) and the second control group (43 women). Theory-based training to promote breast cancer screening was given to intervention groups. The women's willingness to undergo breast cancer screening and breast cancer worry scores were evaluated at 1, 3 and 6 months.

The Breast Cancer & Physical Activity Level (BC-PAL) pilot study is a randomized controlled pilot trial aimed at evaluating whether total physical activity levels, health-related fitness and patient reported outcomes are improved by promoting different intensities of physical activity participation within a home-based setting, and whether these improvements are maintained over the long-term, in inactive breast cancer survivors.

The project objective is to determine whether the Breast Cancer Locator (BCL) can safely and effectively localize breast cancers in patients treated at locations distant from the site of BCL manufacture. This information will be transmitted to CairnSurgical, Inc. where the BCL will be fabricated, tested for quality assurance, sterilized and shipped to the patient's surgeon. The surgeon will then utilize the BCL at the time of resection of the palpable breast cancer.
