Inhaled Doxorubicin in Treating Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors Affecting the Lungs

Lung CancerMalignant Mesothelioma1 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving drugs in different ways may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of inhaled doxorubicin in treating patients who have advanced solid tumors affecting the lungs.

Combination Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy With or Without Gefitinib in Treating Patients With...

Adenocarcinoma of the LungBronchoalveolar Cell Lung Cancer4 more

Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy with or without gefitinib in treating unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Biological therapies such as gefitinib may interfere with the growth of the tumor cells and slow the growth of tumors. It is not yet known whether combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy is more effective with or without gefitinib in treating non-small cell lung cancer

Gemcitabine, Carboplatin or Paclitaxel Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage IIIA...

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine, carboplatin, and paclitaxel, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining radiation therapy with chemotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combining combination chemotherapy with radiation therapy in treating patients who have stage IIIA or stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.

Cisplatin and Gemcitabine Plus Trastuzumab in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small...

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as trastuzumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining chemotherapy with monoclonal antibody therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study effectiveness of combining cisplatin, gemcitabine, and trastuzumab in treating patients who have stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

Safety and Efficacy Study of a New Chemotherapy Agent to Treat Non-small-cell Lung Cancer

CarcinomaNon Small Cell Lung

Phase 2 study to investigate the efficacy and tolerability of epothilone ZK 219477 in patients with stage IIIb or stage IV non-small-cell lung cancer.

Study of Motexafin Gadolinium (MGd) for Second Line Treatment of Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer

AdenocarcinomaNon-Small-Cell Lung Carcinoma1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of MGd in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) when given alone, and to evaluate the difference between two dosing regimens.

CI-1040 in Treating Patients With Advanced Breast, Colon, Pancreatic, or Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer...

Breast CancerColorectal Cancer2 more

RATIONALE: CI-1040 may stop the growth of tumors by blocking the enzymes necessary for cancer cell growth and by stopping blood flow to the tumor. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of CI-1040 in treating patients who have metastatic or unresectable breast, colon, pancreatic, or non-small cell lung cancer.

7-Hydroxystaurosporine and Irinotecan Hydrochloride in Treating Patients With Metastatic or Unresectable...

Advanced Adult Primary Liver CancerCarcinoma of the Appendix87 more

This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride in treating patients with metastatic or unresectable solid tumors, including triple-negative breast cancer (currently enrolling only patients with triple-negative breast cancer since 6/8/2007). Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving 7-hydroxystaurosporine together with irinotecan hydrochloride may help kill more cancer cells by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug.

Erlotinib in Treating Patients With Solid Tumors and Liver or Kidney Dysfunction

Adult Anaplastic AstrocytomaAdult Anaplastic Ependymoma85 more

Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of erlotinib in treating patients who have metastatic or unresectable solid tumors and liver or kidney dysfunction. Biological therapies such as erlotinib may interfere with the growth of tumor cells and slow the growth of the tumor

Combination Chemotherapy Followed by Radiation Therapy Before Surgery in Treating Patients With...

Lung Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed during surgery. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy before surgery in treating patients who have stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.
