Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Refractory Small Cell Lung Cancer...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have recurrent or refractory small cell lung cancer.
R115777 in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of R115777 in treating patients who have recurrent or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.
Paclitaxel + Carboplatin With/ut BMS-275291 in Advanced or Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether paclitaxel and carboplatin are more effective with or without BMS-275291 for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II/III trial to compare the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin with or without BMS-275291 in treating patients who have advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.
Erlotinib vs. Standard Chemotherapy in Patients With Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)...
Non-Small Cell Lung CancerThe purpose of this noncomparative study is to obtain preliminary estimates of the efficacy of erlotinib and standard chemotherapy in patients with advanced, previously untreated nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status (PS) of 2. The study will also evaluate the safety of single-agent erlotinib in this patient population.
Brain Irradiation in Treating Patients With Limited-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known which radiation therapy regimen is more effective in preventing brain metastases in patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer while taking into account chronic neurotoxicity from radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial compares the incidence of chronic neurotoxicity between three different brain irradiation regimens. The corresponding phase III component addressing the prevention of brain metastases was run by EORTC and reported separately (NCT00005062).
Comparison of IV Topotecan/Docetaxel to Docetaxel Alone in Second-Line Stage IIIB/IV Non-Small Cell...
Lung CancerNon-Small Cell1 moreThe purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of a weekly regimen of two FDA approved drugs in combination versus one FDA approved drug in subjects with advanced non-small cell lung cancer who have received one previous chemotherapy excluding TAXOTERE or HYCAMTIN.
An Open Label Study of a Peptide Vaccine in Patients With Stage IIb or IIIa Non-Small Cell Lung...
CarcinomaNon-Small-Cell Lung1 moreEP2101 is a new cancer vaccine containing 10 different peptide antigens. The vaccine is designed to activate the immune system to develop a response against tumor cells in order to delay or prevent the recurrence of cancer. This study will test the safety and measure the level of immune stimulating capability of EP2101 in patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy With or Without Gefitinib in Treating Patients With Stage IIIA or...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Biological therapies such as gefitinib may interfere with the growth of the tumor cells and slow the growth of the tumor. Combining chemotherapy and radiation therapy with gefitinib before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed during surgery. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to compare the effectiveness of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy with or without gefitinib in treating patients who are undergoing surgery for stage III non-small cell lung cancer.
Alanosine in Treating Patients With Cancer
Lung CancerMalignant Mesothelioma2 moreRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as alanosine use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well alanosine works in treating patients with soft tissue sarcoma, sarcoma of the bone, mesothelioma, non-small cell lung cancer, or pancreatic cancer.
Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy Followed By Surgery in Treating Patients With Limited-Stage Small...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as irinotecan and cisplatin use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Irinotecan and cisplatin may also make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. Combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy before surgery may shrink the tumor so that it can be removed during surgery. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects of neoadjuvant radiation therapy given together with irinotecan and cisplatin followed by surgery in treating patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer.
