Lung Heart Rate Variability

Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of heart-rate variability biofeedback training on lung cancer patients receiving definitive radiation therapy. The target population consists of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients receiving 6 weeks of radiation therapy. The study will utilize the Physiolab GP8 heart rate variability and respiration system to collect data as well as several survey instruments to analyze quality of life measures. The goal is to show the HRV training can improve certain QOL measures like anxiety and sleep quality.

Development and Feasibility Testing of a Lung Cancer Screening Decision Aid

Lung Neoplasms

This study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of LuCaS Choices, a web-based decision aid designed to facilitate informed decision making about participation in lung cancer screening among individuals at high risk of lung cancer due to heavy cigarette smoking.

Italian Lung Cancer Screening Trial (ITALUNG)

Lung Cancer

ITALUNG is a RCT for the evaluation of the efficacy of lung cancer screening with low-dose Computer Tomography (LDCT) , carried out in three screening centers in Florence, Pisa and Pistoia districts of the Tuscany region of Italy. 3106 high risk subjects (age 55-69, smokers or ex-smokers) were recruited and randomized to the Active arm (Baseline + 3 annually repeated LDCT screening) or to the Passive arm, followed up in usual care (no screening reccomended ) All subjects were invited, if smokers, to consider smoking cessation practice. Follow-up for cause specific mortality and overall mortality and for lung cancer incidence was performed (actually at 9.3 years since randomization) . Blood and sputum samples were stored from the Active arm in a Biobank, with 1304 subjects enrolled in the Italung Biomarker study.

A Phase II, Open-Label, Multicenter Study of Capmatinib in Subjects With MET Exon 14 Skipping Mutation...

Non-small Cell Lung Carcinoma (NSCLC)

The purpose of this study is to establish the intracranial efficacy of single agent capmatinib in the population of treatment-naïve or pretreated with one or two prior lines of systemic therapies for advanced stage Non Small-Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) with MET exon 14 mutation that has metastasized to the brain. Cohort 1 (asymptomatic brain metastases (BM) without prior brain therapy) has been selected to identify patients who are most likely to benefit from capmatinib therapy in this setting and to establish a clinically relevant response outcome. Cohort 2 is a heterogeneous group of patients (symptomatic with and without prior brain therapy, asymptomatic with prior brain therapy, or with leptomeningeal disease.), and the outcomes will be descriptive only

Testing Informed Decision Making in Lung Cancer Screening

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer screening rates are very low despite the fact that lung cancer screening could save many lives. People need to understand the risks and benefits to screening as well as their own beliefs about screening. This study builds an intervention in real world primary care that will help people make the right decision for them as well as help people to quit smoking. Interventions like this are needed to improve the screening rate and reduce death from lung cancer, which is the leading cancer killer.

Thoracic TumorsNon-small Cell Lung Cancer1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, RP2D and PK/pharmacodynamic profile of ES101 monotherapy in patients with advanced NSCLC and to further evaluate the antitumor efficacy of ES101 in advanced malignant thoracic tumors, including NSCLC and SCLC.

Pembrolizumab With or Without Chemotherapy Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Stage I-IIIA...

Lung Non-Small Cell CarcinomaStage I Lung Cancer AJCC v88 more

This phase II trial studies how well pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy works when given before surgery in treating patients with stage I-IIIA non-small cell lung cancer. Immunotherapy with pembrolizumab, may induce changes in body?s immune system and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and pemetrexed, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving pembrolizumab with or without chemotherapy may shrink the cancer prior to surgery and decrease the likelihood of the cancer returning following surgery.

Integration of Neutron Therapy in the Treatment Plan for Stage III Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)...

Lung Cancer

This study is needed to assess the feasibility of integrating this therapy with current treatment regimens. If this study shows success a formal phase II test study to conduct feasibility will be the next step. The first dose level chosen for this study is 66Gy of radiation to the tumor between LET and standard photon therapy. This dose is the current standard of care for stage III . If this dose is found to be feasible then the dose of LET will escalate to the total dose of 74Gy.
