Prostate Cancer

The active ingredient of Pamorelin® 11,25 mg is Triptorelin. Triptorelin is a substitute for a natural hormone produced in the body called Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH). GnRH is a hormone secreted by hypothalamus (a gland located in brain) and controls the production of sex hormones (eg testosterone in men) in other organs in the body. The growth of prostate cancer cells, one of the most common cancers in men, is induced by the hormone testosterone. Hormonotherapy is one of treatments available to treat this type of disease by controlling the testosterone serum level. Pamorelin® 11,25 mg is normally injected in the muscle but this type of injection is not suitable for every patient. Therefore the primary purpose of this study is to assess the non-inferiority of the 12-week triptorelin formulation Pamorelin® 11,25 mg administered via subcutaneous (SC) injection as compared to Pamorelin® 11,25 mg administered via standard intramuscular (IM) injection based on the percentage of patients presenting a testosterone level ≤ 50 ng/dl at week 24.

Hypo-Fractionated Radiation Therapy for Localized Prostate Cancer

The aim of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose of hypo-fractionated radiation therapy and the toxicity of the treatment program. Eligible patients with stage T1-2c prostate cancer who sign consent will be enrolled to this phase I dose escalation trial and be treated with hypo-fractionated radiation therapy (HRT). Dose escalation will be as follows: There will be 3 cohorts consisting of 3 patients each.

Urinary incontinence post radical prostatectomy is a well-recognized complication regardless of approach, with a potential negative impact on health-related quality of life. Although 12-month continence rates range from 85-95% in the literature, few patients are continent in the early postoperative period. Prostatic Neoplasm

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed neoplasm in men worldwide. The gold standard of therapy is radical prostatectomy, a wide surgical excision of the neoplasm and can be performed either open, laparoscopic or robotic. The open retropubic approach, still performed today, can be completed under either general anaesthesia or combined (spinal/epidural) anaesthesia without any clear guideline on which one should be preferred. In this study the investigators aim to evaluate general anaesthesia and combined (spinal/ epidural) anaesthesia in patients undergoing open retropubic radical prostatectomy and define whether these may have an impact on the oncological outcome and safety of the procedure.

African-Americans have disparately limited access to optimal cancer care. They have the highest overall cancer death rate and shortest survival time of any racial or ethnic group in the United States. Elucidation of disparities in access to cancer care are important since previous work has indicated that when equal access to RT in Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) prospective randomized trials is granted, race does not independently affect outcomes, a finding similar to work conducted in Level I evidence-proven optimal management of curable neurologic conditions. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in African-American women and Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in African-American men. African-American breast & prostate cancer participants are less likely to receive standard-of-care radiation therapy. Previous work has identified that compared to Caucasian women with breast cancer, African-American women are 48% more likely to have RT omission during treatment, 167% less likely to receive timely completion of RT after breast-conserving surgery, 40% less likely to complete RT, and significantly more likely to experience RT treatment delays. Shorter course radiation therapy may reduce disparities in radiation therapy care facing African-American breast cancer participants.

This pilot clinical trial studies docetaxel and carboplatin in treating patients with castration resistant prostate cancer that has spread from the primary site (place where it started) to other places in the body (metastatic) and contains inactivated genes in the BRCA 1/2 pathway. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading.
