Flaxseed Supplement in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung...

Lung CancerRadiation Toxicity

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Flaxseed may help protect normal cells from the side effects of radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase I trial is studying the side effects of flaxseed supplement in treating patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

A Study Of Cisplatin (Or Carboplatin) And Etoposide With Or Without Figitumumab (CP-751,871) In...

Small Cell Lung Carcinoma

This study will summarize the safety of patients receiving figitumumab combined with etoposide and cisplatin (or carboplatin) vs. patients receiving etoposide and cisplatin (or carboplatin) alone as first line treatment for extensive stage disease Small Cell Lung Cancer.

WBRT & Erlotinib in Advanced NSCLC and Brain Metastases

Lung CancerMetastatic Cancer

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Erlotinib may also make tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy. It is not yet known whether giving whole-brain radiation therapy together with erlotinib is more effective than whole-brain radiation therapy alone in treating patients with non-small cell lung cancer and brain metastases. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying whole-brain radiation therapy and erlotinib to see how well they work compared with whole-brain radiation therapy alone in treating patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer and brain metastases.

CAPPA-2: Cisplatin Added to Gemcitabine in Poor Performance Advanced NSCLC Patients

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact on overall survival (OS) of the addition of cisplatin to gemcitabine vs gemcitabine alone in patients with advanced NSCLC in poor clinical condition (PS 2), not previously treated.

Monotherapy Pazopanib in Subjects With Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Lung CancerNon-Small Cell

This study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of monotherapy pazopanib (a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor of VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3, PDGF, and c-kit) in subjects with advanced (Stage IIIB or IV) non-small cell lung cancer.

Safety Study of Bevacizumab (Avastin) With Thoracic Radiation in Non-small Cell Cell Lung Cancer...

Toxicity

In spite of the use of radiation combined with conventional chemotherapy, the long-term survival prognosis for most patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer is disappointing. Much effort is currently focussed on exploring new molecular targeted agents that may improve upon survival. The addition of an agent that targets blood vessel formation in tumors, bevacizumab or Avastin, to conventional chemotherapy has been shown to improve survival in metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. Data from animal studies have shown that bevacizumab and related agents also increase tumor cure rates when administered both during and after radiotherapy. This suggests that combined bevacizumab and chemo-radiation may improve survival in local-advanced disease as well. Before such clinical studies can commence, the safety and normal tissue toxicity profile of bevacizumab with thoracic radiotherapy must first be established. In this study, escalating doses of bevacizumab will be administered during radiotherapy, followed by maintenance bevacizumab.

Cetuximab as Therapy for Recurrent Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patients Who Have Received Prior Therapy...

Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of this research study is to find out how well cetuximab works in treating NSCLC in patients who have been previously treated with a class of drug called tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). Cetuximab is a protein that is designed to block a substance in cancer cells called "epidermal growth factor receptor" or EGFR. EGFR helps cancer cells grow.

Trial of Bevacizumab and Ixabepilone for Advanced or Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)...

Non-squamous Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

This is a non-randomized, open-label, single arm phase II trial of the combination of bevacizumab and ixabepilone in patients with advanced- or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC progressive after first or second-line therapy. The main objective is to evaluate the progression-free survival in patients with advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC being treated with ixabepilone and bevacizumab.

A Study of Aflibercept Administered in Combination With Pemetrexed and Cisplatin in Participants...

Advanced CarcinomaNon-small Cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of the study was to determine whether the combination of aflibercept, pemetrexed and cisplatin is safe and effective in treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Combination of Erlotinib and Bevacizumab as Second-line Treatment in Patients With Non-small Cell...

Non-small-cell Lung Cancer

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of combination of erlotinib and bevacizumab in patients with locally advanced or metastatic, non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer, who progressed after first line treatment. Pretreatment with one of the two agents would not excluded patients from the study, in order to evaluate whether the combination of the two biologic agents could reverse tumor resistance.
