Study to Evaluate the Efficacy of Botulinum Toxin Serotype A Injections for Cervicobrachial Myofascial...

Cervicobrachial NeuralgiaMyofascial Pain Syndromes

Several studies have previously examined the use of botulinum toxin serotype A for myofascial pain of the neck and shoulders (cervicobrachial syndrome). These studies have suffered from: inclusion of confounding conditions in the proband group, and inability to identify predictors of response. This study attempts to define the characteristics of responders to botulinum serotype A for myofascial pain of the neck and shoulders (cervicobrachial syndrome).

An Open-Label Follow-on Trial to Assess the Long-Term Safety and Efficacy of Oral SPM 927 in Subjects...

Postherpetic Neuralgia

This trial was the follow-on trial to a preceeding double-blind, placebo controlled trial which included patients with at least moderate pain due to postherpetic neuralgia. It was conducted at six sites in Germany and has been clinically finalized. The patients had successfully completed the above mentioned trial in postherpetic neuralgia and, in the investigator's opinion, would benefit from long-term administration of Lacosamide. After a 1-week run-in phase the patients were uptitrated to their optimal dose and then continued into the maintenance phase. Dose adjustments were allowed throughout the trial. The change in pain was measured daily as well as interference of pain with sleep and general activity. As per protocol this trial was terminated after two years of treatment.

The Effectiveness of Tibial Nerve Mobilization in Patients With Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Nerve Compression SyndromesNeuropathic Pain

This randomized, clinical, single-blinded, controlledstudywasinitiallyplannedtoinclude 35 patients diagnosed with tarsal tunnel who applied to Kütahya Health Sciences University, Evliya Çelebi Training and Research Hospital, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic.Patients aged 20-55 years who were diagnosed with tarsal tunnel syndrome by electromyography (EMG) in the last 6 months were included in the study. The patients were randomized into two groups using the computer-assisted randomization method. Tibial nerve mobilization and foot-ankle range of motion exercises will be given to the study group, and only foot-ankle joint range of motion exercises will be given to the control group. All the patients were evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Foot Functional Index (FFI), Neuropathic Pain QuestionnaireN (NPQ) and Tibial Nerve ultrasonography before the intervention and at the fourth week of intervention.

Methadone in Post-Herpetic Neuralgia Pain

Post-herpetic Neuralgia

Neuropathic pain is a common condition and affecting 40 to 70% of the general population. Post-herpetic neuralgia is a condition almost complex and requires a multi modal treatment. Aim: This is a pilot proof-of-principle study designed to evaluate the use of low-dose methadone in post-herpetic neuralgia patients who remained refractory after first and second line treatment for post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) and had indication for the association of an opioid agent to their current drug regimen.
