Temozolomide Followed by Radiation Therapy in Treating Children With Newly Diagnosed Malignant CNS...

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsNeuroblastoma

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of temozolomide followed by radiation therapy in treating children who have newly diagnosed malignant central nervous system tumors.

Pyrazoloacridine Plus Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Recurrent Glioma

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of pyrazoloacridine plus carboplatin in treating patients who have recurrent glioma. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells.

Rebeccamycin Analogue in Treating Children With Solid Tumors or Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsLymphoma5 more

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of rebeccamycin analogue in treating children who have solid tumors or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.

Hydroxyurea in Treating Patients With Recurrent and/or Unresectable Meningioma

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of hydroxyurea in treating patients who have recurrent and/or unresectable meningioma.

Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation Plus Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Malignant Solid...

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor6 more

RATIONALE: Peripheral stem cell transplantation may be able to replace immune cells that were destroyed by chemotherapy used to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with peripheral stem cell transplantation may allow the doctor to give higher doses of chemotherapy drugs and kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of cyclophosphamide when given together with combination chemotherapy and a peripheral stem cell transplant in treating patients with malignant solid tumors.

Nitrocamptothecin in Treating Patients With Glioblastoma Multiforme

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of nitrocamptothecin in treating patients who have glioblastoma multiforme.

Completed3 enrollment criteria

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy in Treating Patients With Leptomeningeal Cancer

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsIntraocular Melanoma5 more

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody therapy in treating patients who have leptomeningeal metastases.

Busulfan in Treating Children and Adolescents With Refractory CNS Cancer

Brain and Central Nervous System TumorsChildhood Germ Cell Tumor5 more

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the safety of delivering intrathecal busulfan in children and adolescents who have refractory CNS cancer and to estimate the maximum tolerated dose of this treatment regimen.

Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Recurrent Malignant Glioma

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of topotecan plus carmustine in patients with recurrent primary malignant glioma.

Observation or Radiation Therapy With or Without Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With...

Brain and Central Nervous System Tumors

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy combined with chemotherapy is more effective than radiation therapy alone in treating patients with low-grade glioma. PURPOSE: Phase II/III trial to evaluate observation and to compare the effectiveness of radiation therapy with or without combination chemotherapy in treating patients with low-grade glioma.
