Neuropathic Pain After Orchidectomy and Sex Reassignment Surgery
Neuropathic PainPhantom Pain1 morePhantom pain is associated with cortical reorganization after amputation. This phenomenon should not play a role in transsexual women, since the cortical representation of the male sex organs is presumably altered. The study investigates the incidence of phantom pain in this patient population. For this study the following question should be investigated: Is the incidence of phantom pain and local chronic postsurgical pain lower in sex reassignment surgery from male to female compared to inguinal tumor orchidectomy?
The Effect of Neuropathic Pain in Patients With Combat-related Extremity Injury
Neuropathic PainIt has been suggested that veterans with chronic pain might be at increased risk for the development of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. To date, most of the published studies have focused on chronic pain as a whole, and there are limited studies examining association of neuropathic pain with psychological comorbidity and quality of life.Combat related extremity injury significantly influences the patients' quality of life and psychological state. In this context, the purpose of this study is to illustrate to what extent neuropathic pain influences the quality of life, depression level and sleep quality of patients with combat-related extremity injury.
Chronic Pain in COVID-19 Patients Discharged From Intensive Care Unit
COVID-19 PandemicICU4 moreMore than six million French were affected by SARS-COV2 epidemic. About 20% of infected peoples were hospitalized, and about 5% were admitted to the intensive care units (ICU) for severe SARS-COV2 acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) management. A spectrum of neuropsychiatric sequelae, specific for the ICU exposure, was already described, including post-intensive care syndrome and persistent pain. A growing body of evidence suggests the impact of SARS-COV2 exposure on the occurrence of neurological disorders and chronic pain syndrome development in COVID-19 patients. Taking together, one can expect a large number of patients discharged from ICU after severe COVID-19 with high prevalence of persistent pain and psychological disorders. To date, no study has evaluated neither the incidence of persistant pains in ICU COVID-19 survivors, nor pain phenotypes. The knowledge of such data is crucial in order to anticipate the management of such patients by specialized pain team, and to quantify the possible incurred burden of care. Our study aims to evaluate the incidence of pain, pain localization and severity, associated pain-related psychological disorders, and to perform quantitative sensory testing in severe COVID-19 patients, admitted to the ICU for more than 48 hours and successfully discharged home during the first French pandemic wave.
Hippocampal Radiation Exposure and Memory
Arteriovenous MalformationSchwannoma1 moreNeurocognitive impairment as a result of gamma knife radiosurgery has not been well studied and is poorly understood. Radiosurgery to the base of skull for the treatment of benign and malignant disorders may consequently impair memory function. There is a need to evaluate changes in memory function that may be associated with such exposures. In this pilot study, we will investigate changes in hippocampal-dependent memory function in 10 patients receiving a low SRS dose to the hippocampus. We will also investigate such changes in a no-dose control group and a high-dose control group. This study will provide preliminary estimates of variance in memory changes associated with radiation exposure, and will then permit us to design future studies with the appropriate sample size justification.
Neuropathic Pain in Psoriatic Arthritis
Psoriatic ArthritisPathogenesis of inflammatory diseases is suitable for eliciting neuropathic pain. The aim of this study is to evaluate the frequency of NP among PsA patients and relationship between disease activity, quality of life, functionality, and other numerous factors.
Evaluation of Neuropathic Pain in the Context of Clinical Symptoms, Quantitative Sensory Tests and...
Neuropathic PainRadiculopathy1 moreThis study is planned to evaluate patients with upper extremity neuropathic pain due to cervical radiculopathy with clinical symptoms, Quantitative Sensory Testing(QST) and Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging(fMRI). Patients with similar charactheristics will be grouped and comparisons will be conducted in fMRI results, as well as QST.
Adrenocorticotropic Axis and Neuropathic Pain
Neuropathic PainChronic pain is often associated with a chronic stress and HHSG axis plays a pivotal role in maintaining homeostasis. The literature reports that pain in patients treated with opioids, significant changes are taking place in this axis with a collapse in hormone concentrations that are correlated with the decline on tests of quality of life and psychological testing. The investigators hypothesis is that this "endocrinopathy" could also be present in patients treated for neuropathic pain with other drug classes as opiates (antidepressants, antiepileptics), and may explain, at least in part, the impairement of the quality of life of these patients.
Clinical Phenotyping and Genotyping of HIV-Associated Sensory Neuropathy: The HIV-POGO Study
HIVSensory Neuropathy1 moreThis study aims to recruit a cohort of HIV patients with and without HIV-SN and to identify genetic risk factors for the development of HIV-SN and neuropathic pain. It also aims to more deeply phenotype the condition, using well validated questionnaires, and to identify any influence that early neurocognitive dysfunction may have on the reporting, diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic pain in the HIV population.
Burden of Herpes Zoster and Post-herpetic Neuralgia Among People ≥ 50 Years Old in France
Herpes ZosterThe purpose of this study is to assess the burden of Herpes zoster (HZ) and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) among people ≥ 50 years old in France, in terms of healthcare resources used, medical direct and indirect costs, as well as pain severity and impact on quality of life.
Persistent Pain After Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair
PainPostoperative2 moreDescribe and characterizes laparoscopic postherniotomy patients with persistent moderate/severe pain affecting every day activities - including detailed quantitative sensory assessment
