Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis and Associated Sleep Abnormalities
Neuronal Ceroid LipofuscinosisBatten's DiseaseNeuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL) also known at Batten's disease is the most common neurodegenerative disorder in children. Families often report the patient has a sleep disturbance. This is a questionnaire to be completed by the family to better understand the sleep pattern and sleep difficulties experienced by individuals who have been diagnosed with NCL.
Genotype - Phenotype Correlations of LINCL
Batten DiseaseLate-Infantile Neuronal Ceroid LipfuscinosisIn a separate protocol the Department of Genetic Medicine is proposing to carry out a study using gene transfer to treat the central nervous system (CNS) manifestations of late infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (LINCL), a fatal, rare, recessive disorder of the (CNS) in children. In the context that there is little known about the genotype - phenotype correlations of LINCL, and that our referral far exceed the number (n=11) of children that will be entered into the gene transfer protocol, we are proposing to capitalize on this unique opportunity to evaluate this disorder in this separate study. In this context, the aim of this protocol is to study the genotype - phenotype correlations of the CNS manifestations of late infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis. This will be accomplished by comparing the genotype to a neurologic assessment, and LINCL clinical rating scale; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopic (MRS) assessments of the CNS; and routine clinical evaluations.
Using NPT to Evaluate Providing PPC as ELNEC-PPC WBT for Nurses
CancerCardiac Anomaly5 moreThe purpose of this study is to explain the provision of palliative care at the end of life by the implementation of the ELNEC course, as WBT Program using the Normalization Process Theory, that focus attention on how complex interventions become routinely embedded in practice. In addition to, identify the changes implemented by the participant nurses (intervention group) in their clinical practice, after participating in WBT Program to provide Palliative Care alongside with usual care versus usual care only (control group) for children with life-limiting conditions or in the case of accidents/sudden death, at the end of life. And finally, provide findings that will assist in the interpretation of the trial results.
