Internet-delivered Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for Children Age 8-12 Years With Anxiety Disorders...

Anxiety Disorders

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether a 10 week Internet-delivered CBT is a feasible approach to treat children (age 8-12 years) with anxiety disorder (social phobia, panic disorder, specific phobia, generalized anxiety disorder or separation anxiety disorder). The program is directed toward both the parents and children. The patients work with the treatment is supported through on-line contact with a therapist. Approximately 128 patients will be included in the study and randomized to either condition. All included patients are assessed before the treatment starts and after 10 weeks (post treatment). Follow-up assessments are conducted at 3 and 12 months after treatment.

Stress Reduction and Anxiety: Effects on the Function and Structure of the Brain

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

The aim of the study is to test whether Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) patients that participate in a Stress Reduction Intervention show a brain activation pattern (assessed by MRI) indicative of improved emotion regulation compared to an active control intervention.

RCT of an Acceptance-based Behavior Therapy for GAD

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

The purpose of this study is to determine whether acceptance-based behavior therapy for GAD results in greater symptom reduction and increased quality of life than applied relaxation.

Treatment of Late-life Anxiety in Primary Care Settings

Generalized Anxiety DisorderPanic Disorder1 more

The research study proposed is designed to examine the outcomes of a cognitive behavioral guided self-care intervention with older adults diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and recruited from a primary care setting. It is hypothesized that the cognitive behavioral guided self-care intervention will produce greater declines in worry and anxiety than enhanced usual care.

Improving Informed Consent in Pediatric Endoscopy

Informed ConsentProcedural State Anxiety1 more

Informed consent/assent in pediatric medicine is an accepted and important practice that has been rarely studied, tested for quality, or optimized for patient satisfaction. In the pursuit of enhancing and studying pediatric care, the investigators propose, as pediatric gastroenterologists, assessing the current state of parental and adolescent consent/assent in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and offering a computer based education program to improve it. The investigators will look at outcomes that include anxiety, satisfaction, attainment of informed consent, and patient flow efficiency in a GI endoscopy suite.

ERP N1 as a Treatment Predictor of Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Amplitude changes of the N1 and the N1/P2 ERP component in response to different tone intensities have been suggested as a correlative of central serotonergic activity. A strong loudness dependence amplitude increase (strong intensity dependence) reflects low serotonergic neurotransmission and vice versa. Many researchers assumed that the brain serotonergic activity could influence treatment response of highly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in depression and anxiety disorders. There are a couple of studies reporting associations of N1 amplitude intensity dependence with response to Citalopram (positive correlation) and Reboxetine (negative correlation) treatment in major depressive disorder patients. But so far there have been no reports about associations between ERP N1 and antidepressant response in GAD patients. So, it would be very interesting to explore the correlations between ERP N1 amplitude change and the Escitalopram treatment responsiveness in GAD patients.

Safety & Efficacy Study of Quetiapine Fumarate (SEROQUEL®) vs. Placebo & Active Control in Generalized...

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that quetiapine SR (SEROQUEL®) is efficacious and safe in the acute treatment of patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. PLEASE NOTE: Seroquel SR and Seroquel XR refer to the same formulation. The SR designation was changed to XR after consultation with FDA.
