Breakthrough Anxiety and Sleep Evaluation Using Linked Devices and Smartphone Application Onar (BASEL)...

Sleep is not simply the absence of wakefulness. Sleep is an active procedure, normally happening every night, and is absolutely vital. Good sleep is essential for our well-being. Survival without food can be further than without sleep. Work time and commuting time seem to affect total sleep time and night bedtime. Social and work obligation can, therefore, suppress sleep time. Sleep deprived individuals may be facing anxiety and depression symptoms. The aim of this study is to investigate the presence of anxiety and depression symptoms among adults with the use of the smartphone application Onar. Onar app will be used to gather information from wearable devices of the users including total sleep time, sleep efficiency, wake after sleep onset time. An established questionnaire (Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale/ HADS) will be used to quantify and detect the presence of anxiety and depression in the study population.

The worldwide prevalence of anxiety and depression increased massively during the pandemic, with a 25% rise in the number of patients suffering from psychological distress. Psychiatrists, and even more so general practitioners, need measurement tools that enable them to remotely monitor their patients' psychological state of health, and to be automatically alerted in the event of a break in behavior. In this study, the investigators propose to collect clinical data along with longitudinal measurement of patients' emotions. Emobot proposes to analyze the evolution of mood disorders over time by passively studying people's emotional behavior. The aim of EMOACQ-1 is to acquire knowledge and produce a quantitative link between emotional expression and mood disorders, ultimately facilitating the understanding and management of these disorders. Through this study, could be developed a technological solution to support healthcare professionals and patients in psychiatry, a field known as the "poor relation of medicine" and lacking in resources. Such a solution would enable better understanding, disorders remote & continuous monitoring and, ultimately, better treatment of these disorders. The investigators will process the data by carrying out a number of analyses, including descriptive, comparative and correlation studies of the data from the self-questionnaire results and the emotional signals captured by the devices. Finally, the aim will be to predict questionnaire scores from the emotional signals produced.

Blending Two Worlds: Traditional Aboriginal Healing Strategies for Depression and Anxiety

Purpose Provide a culturally sensitive and supportive treatment environment for children, youth and families in the aboriginal community experiencing stress, anxiety and depression. Gain insight into understanding of the role of Traditional Healing options provided by Aboriginal Healers and Helpers in the management of stress, anxiety and depression. Encourage Aboriginal and First Nation clients to seek treatment earlier from a culturally supportive system. Hypothesis This will be a descriptive hypothesis generating research project, however it is anticipated that members of the Aboriginal community experiencing stress, anxiety and depression may experience improved care and outcomes if their treatment includes traditional healing methods. A number of measures of subject and treatment characteristics, stress, anxiety and depression will provide the foundation for triangulation of outcomes in order to describe the impact of the various treatment options (standard care, Traditional Healing, combined standard care and Traditional Healing).

Parental Anxiety Following Premature Birth

In 2018, the World Health Organization (WHO) counted no less than 15 million preterm births each year worldwide, or more than one in ten children. In recent years, the number of newborns surviving preterm birth has gradually increased due to advances in neonatal medicine. However, these rescues are not without consequences. Indeed, to do so, the child is separated from his parents, placed in a stressful, technical and potentially painful environment. This early separation is compounded by medical co-morbidities and sedations that compromise the child's physiology and availability to interact. Extreme prematurity also disrupts the early interactions between the child and his parents, and eventually the relationships with others. Thus, more than 35% of children born prematurely show insecure attachment behavior in their relationships with others. Moreover, premature births are accompanied by numerous somatic, cognitive and social cognitive difficulties. At school age, these children present more learning, social-emotional and behavioral problems. The greater the degree of prematurity, the more marked these difficulties are. They would be associated with an executive and social cognition deficit, inherent to a globally altered cerebral development, in particular the frontal subcortical cerebral regions. On the parents' side, premature birth is also fraught with consequences. Indeed, the idea of an idealized post-natal period gives way to an anxious, even traumatic experience. Notions of guilt are often expressed, as well as major anxiety about the child's survival and "parenting skills". A higher prevalence of signs of parental anxiety, postnatal depression and post-traumatic stress disorder is observed in mothers of premature infants, even up to 18 months after birth. These psychological states influence the parents' ability to interact with their newborn, as well as the content of these interactions. Finally, both parents and newborns see, for different reasons, their ability to interact and to reassure themselves profoundly disrupted by premature birth. Even if since 2010, prematurity has been identified as a "public health problem" by the WHO, studies on the subject still have limitations. Indeed, if we estimate that the prevalence of anxiety and/or depression signs in mothers of premature babies is on average three times higher than in mothers of full-term babies; what about fathers? It seems fundamental to improve our knowledge of the anxious and depressive symptoms that fathers and mothers of premature babies may display, with the aim of providing comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for families in neonatal intensive care units. Similarly, the exact impact of an increase in parental anxious depressive symptomatology on the precursors of cognitive and social cognitive development is not known. Since the environment and stimulation are fundamental to the child's development, what happens when one or both parents have their interaction modified by anxious-depressive symptomatology? Indeed, the rare studies publishing data on the subject are carried out on populations of parents of non-premature children, often non-French-speaking and above all with tools that are not available to French-speaking practitioners in charge of the early detection of developmental difficulties in premature children. Today, it seems necessary to provide data concerning the development of precursors to cognitive and social cognitive development in preterm infants, and to better understand the extent of its interaction with the anxious depressive symptomatology of the mother and father. The investigators therefore formulate the following hypotheses: Anxious depressive symptomatology, such as signs of parental anxiety, postnatal depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder, would be higher in mothers and fathers of preterm infants than in mothers and fathers of full-term infants at 7 ± 1 weeks after birth. The level of development of the precursors to cognitive and social cognitive development would be lower in children whose parents present an exacerbated anxious depressive symptomatology.

The Association Between Parent Anxiety and Sedation Anesthesia Doses in Pediatric Endoscopy

Our study was planned as a prospective, single-center study between 20 January 2022 and 20 April 2022. All patients between the ages of 1-18 who will undergo upper or lower gastrointestinal endoscopy and their parents will be included in our study. All patients and parents whose family did not give consent to participate in the study will be excluded from the study. All patients will be seen by an anesthesiologist before the procedure and it will be stated that there is no harm in taking anesthesia. Anesthesia consent form will be given by the family. Study participation consent will be obtained from parents before starting the procedure. The patient's age, gender, height, weight, ASA score, the procedure to be performed, the parent's educational status, occupation and income level will be recorded. Children's anxiety will be evaluated with the "Modified Yale Preoperative Anxiety Scale (mYPAS)" in the presence of their parents 15-30 minutes before the procedure. The agitation that occurs when the patient leaves the families for processing, with the "Parental Separation Anxiety Scale"; Parental anxiety will be evaluated with the "Stationary and Trait Anxiety Scale" filled by families after the child is processed.

Mobile Phone App for Depression and Anxiety in Young Men Who Are Attracted to Men

The purpose of this study is to determine whether a mobile phone application ("app") for symptoms of depression and anxiety is practical and acceptable to young men who are attracted to men, and whether it reduces their anxiety and depressive symptoms. The investigators will also evaluate whether reductions in symptoms are maintained over a 10 week follow-up period after young men complete the mobile phone intervention.

The specific aim of this project is to determine the impact of this group therapy intervention on improving adherence, coping, and functioning among children and adolescents with disease processes requiring injections who experience injection-related anxiety.Hypotheses include: General psychosocial (quality of life) improvements from beginning to post-treatment as well as maintenance of these improvements 2-4 weeks following the termination of treatment for both youth and parents. Reduced injection-related anxiety from baseline to post-treatment as well as maintenance of this improvement 2-4 weeks following the end of treatment for both youth and parents. Reduced anxiety immediately following exposure to feared injection- related stimuli. For participants experiencing poor adherence to medical treatment, improvement in adherence as reported by both parents and youth from baseline to post-treatment as well as maintenance of these improvements 2-4 weeks following the end of treatment.

Effects of Peer Support and Progressive Relaxation Exercises on Sleep Quality and Anxiety

The effect of peer support and progressive relaxation exercise programs on midwifery students' sleep and anxiety levels in the COVID-19 pandemic was investigated in the present research. One hundred and four subjects were found eligible for the study according to the inclusion criteria, and they were grouped into three: the peer support program group (PSP) (n=34), the progressive relaxation exercise group (PRE) (n=35), and control group (n=35). The PRE group was given an online relaxation exercise program. The PSP group was given an online peer support program. The data collection tools included a descriptive data form, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-I-II), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The scores of the groups that they obtained from the pre-test application of the STAI-I and PSQI did not yield a statistically significant difference. The scores that PRE and PSP groups obtained from the post-test application of the STAI-I and PSQI were lower than the score that was obtained by the control group on the post-test application of the measures, and difference was evaluated to be significant. Although the mechanisms of action of these two methods are different, it has been observed that they have similar effects in improving anxiety levels and sleep quality.
