An Augmented Training Program for Preventing Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries Among Diverse Public...

Posttraumatic Stress DisorderMajor Depressive Disorder6 more

Public safety personnel (PSP; e.g., border services personnel, correctional workers, firefighters, paramedics, police, public safety communicators) are frequently exposed to potentially psychologically traumatic events. Such events contribute to substantial and growing challenges from posttraumatic stress injuries (PTSIs), including but not limited to posttraumatic stress disorder. The PSP PTSI Study has been designed to evaluate an evidence-informed, proactive system of mental health assessment and training among Royal Canadian Mounted Police (www.rcmpstudy.ca) for delivery among diverse PSP (i.e., firefighters, municipal police, paramedics, public safety communicators). The training is based on the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders, adapted for PSP, and named Emotional Resilience Skills Training (ERST). The subsequent PSP PTSI Study results are expected to benefit the mental health of all participants and, ultimately, all PSP.

CBT and the Neural Circuits of Anxiety

Generalised Anxiety DisorderAnxiety Disorders7 more

This study will aim to test whether specific neural circuitry changes, proposed on the basis of a neurocognitive model of anxiety, are a mechanism of action for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions. This study aims to provide a theoretical model of the neurobiological mechanisms of CBT's therapeutic effect, where there currently is none, and potentially allow for more targeted/specific approaches to anxiety disorders following the identification of key CBT mechanisms. The ultimate aim is to improve the efficacy of CBT, and more generally, psychological interventions for anxiety disorders.

Exploring the Efficacy of Treatments for Anxiety and Depression Among College Students

AnxietyDepression

The goal of this randomized control group is to learn about effective treatments for college students experiencing anxiety and/or depression. The main questions this clinical trial aims to answer are: 1) Can alternative treatments decrease anxiety and/or depression among college students? 2) Can alternative treatments increase retention rates among college students experiencing anxiety and/or depression? Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three intervention groups: external qigong, mindfulness meditation, or psychoeducation. Researchers will compare outcomes from each group to explore treatment differences.

A Causal Relationship Study Between Anxiety, Depression, and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid ArthritisAnxiety1 more

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic chronic inflammatory disease, and depression and anxiety are among the most common comorbidities in RA patients, with a high prevalence rate. Epidemiological studies have found that joint deformities, severe pain, positive serum RF titers, as well as comorbidities such as hypertension, insomnia, pain, and fatigue are significantly associated with depression and anxiety in RA patients. Currently, clinical studies have found that the relief of depression or anxiety is one of the expected treatment goals for RA patients. Due to the unclear pathogenic factors of depression or anxiety in RA patients, there is a lack of effective clinical treatment options. Therefore, this study will use a "causal inference model" to identify possible "mediating variables" that may lead to the comorbidity of RA and emotional disorders through clinical investigation, aiming to improve the precision of treatment for physicians.

Development of the Neuroimaging Biomarker-based Prediction Model of Anxiety-related Disorders: Effect...

Anxiety Depression

The purpose of this study designed a randomized clinical trial is to determine the efficacy of an 8-week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy using neuroscience (NMBCT) to reduce anxiety or depressive symptoms among adult participants with anxiety and depression. The primary object is to assess the effectiveness of NMBCT to change in the structural or functional brain. A secondary objective is to reduce clinical symptom severity.

Therapeutic Exercise on the Psychological Well-being of Women Victims of Gender Violence.

Anxiety DisordersDepressive Symptoms1 more

The scientific literature shows that women subjected to gender violence suffer a deterioration in mental health (anxiety, stress and depression). In particular, a recent study carried out in Galicia found a high incidence of post-traumatic stress, depression and low self-esteem in women victims of gender violence. The efficacy of therapeutic exercise in depression and anxiety has been widely demonstrated, as has the link between gender violence and deterioration of mental health, with a high incidence of post-traumatic stress. However, research on the effect of therapeutic exercise in battered women is very limited. For this reason, the aim of the present project is to evaluate the effect of a therapeutic exercise program on mental health in women who have suffered gender violence.

Development of Transdiagnostic Single-session Treatment

Anxiety DisordersDepression1 more

The goal of this clinical trial is to test a single session treatment program in primary care patients with anxiety and/or depression and/or stress-related issues. The main questions it aims to answer is: Will the transdiagnostic treatment program decrease symptoms of depression/anxiety/stress? Will the transdiagnostic treatment program decrease transdiagnostic risk factors? Will the transdiagnostic treatment program decrease the measured risk factors equally? Will the transdiagnostic treatment program impact patients with anxiety, depression or stress disorders equally? Will the transdiagnostic treatment program have long term (6 months post-treatment) effect on transdiagnostic risk factors? Will the transdiagnostic treatment program have long term (6 months post-treatment) effect on anxiety, depression, or stress-symptoms? Have the participants been able to generalize the skills taught in the program(qualitative)? Within group that were treated with single-session treatment and recieved additional care before follow-up, was there a difference in outcome?
