R115777 in Treating Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of R115777 in treating patients who have recurrent or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.

Gemcitabine, Carboplatin, and Bortezomib in Advanced or Recurrent Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Recurrent Non-small Cell Lung CancerStage IIIB Non-small Cell Lung Cancer1 morePhase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining bortezomib with gemcitabine and carboplatin in treating patients who have advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer that has not been previously treated with chemotherapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth. Bortezomib may also help gemcitabine and carboplatin kill more tumor cells by making the cells more sensitive to the drugs

Iressa Versus Docetaxel (Taxotere)
Non-Small-Cell Lung CarcinomaThe purpose of this study is to compare the effects of ZD1839 or docetaxel in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has recurred or progressed after receiving prior treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy.

EF5 and Motexafin Lutetium in Detecting Tumor Cells in Patients With Abdominal or Non-Small Cell...
Advanced Adult Primary Liver CancerCarcinoma of the Appendix69 moreThis clinical trial is studying the amount of EF5 and motexafin lutetium present in tumor cells and/or normal tissues of patients with abdominal (such as ovarian, colon, or stomach cancer) or non-small cell lung cancer. EF5 may be effective in measuring oxygen in tumor tissue. Photosensitizing drugs such as motexafin lutetium are absorbed by tumor cells and, when exposed to light, become active and kill the tumor cells. Knowing the level of oxygen in tumor tissue and the level of motexafin lutetium absorbed by tumors and normal tissue may help predict the effectiveness of anticancer therapy

ABI-007 in Treating Patients With Chemotherapy-Naïve Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as ABI-007, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of ABI-007 and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

3-AP and Gemcitabine as Second-Line Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage III or Stage IV Recurrent...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as 3-AP and gemcitabine, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving 3-AP together with gemcitabine as second-line therapy works in treating patients with recurrent stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

Epothilone D in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer That Has...
Lung CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as epothilone D, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well epothilone D works in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer that has not responded to platinum-based chemotherapy.

Gemcitabine/Oxaliplatin (GEMOX) vs Carboplatin/Paclitaxel (CP) in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)...
CarcinomaNon-Small-Cell LungThe purpose of this study is to compare combination treatment of gemcitabine + oxaliplatin (GEMOX) with carboplatin + paclitaxel (CP) to determine if there is a difference in response and safety between the two drug combinations for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Bortezomib in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Lung Cancer
Adenocarcinoma of the LungBronchoalveolar Cell Lung Cancer4 moreThis phase II trial is studying how well bortezomib works in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV lung cancer. Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth.

Docetaxel With Either Cetuximab or Bortezomib as First-Line Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage...
Adenocarcinoma of the LungAdenosquamous Cell Lung Cancer6 moreThis randomized phase II trial is studying how well giving docetaxel together with either cetuximab or bortezomib works as first-line therapy in treating patients with stage III or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some find tumor cells and kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. Others interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving docetaxel together with either cetuximab or bortezomib may be effective as first-line therapy in treating non-small cell lung cancer.
