Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Versus Ventriculo-peritoneal Shunting in Idiopathic Normal Pressure...
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusAn endoscopic third ventriculostomy is considered to be successful in idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) in some literature reports, but there is a lack of high quality data. The aim of the present study is to compare the treatment options of iNPH (Endoscopic third ventriculostomy versus ventriculo-peritoneal shunt) in a randomized, controlled, multicenter study.
Prognostic Value of Transforming Growth Factor-Beta 1 in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusCorrelation of cerebrospinal fluid levels of transforming growth factor beta-1 with functional improvements after insertion of ventriculoperitoneal shunt for normal pressure hydrocephalus
Cerebrospinal Fluid Proteome in Hydrocephalus
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusPROLIPHYC is a collaborative prospective study that aims at discovering deep cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteome with a new clinically-compatible proteomics strategy, in a cohort of 100 patients suspected of neurodegenerative diseases and/or normal pressure hydrocephalus.
European Study on Prediction of Outcome in Patients With Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus...
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusThe purpose of the study is to determine the predictive values and prognostic accuracies of CSF dynamic measures, the TAP -TEST (high-volume cerebrospinal fluid withdrawal), resistance to CSF outflow and compliance in the prediction of shunt-treatment outcome in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus.
Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) Registry
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusThe overall aim of the registry is to develop a longitudinal, observational database that is focused on adult patients with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) that can be used as a source of clinical information for individual surgeons, as well as a national data repository for scientific inquiry and publications.
Effect of Depletive Lumbar Puncture on Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction in iNPH
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusLower urinary tract dysfunction in normal pressure hydrocephalus has received little attention from the scientific community. Urinary symptoms in normal pressure hydrocephalus are mainly represented by overactive bladder, which is a significant burden for the concerned patients. A harmonization of neuro-urological practices in the pre-therapeutic evaluation of patients suffering from normal pressure hydrocephalus is necessary. The investigators conducted a bicentric prospective study aiming to evaluate the effect of depletive lumbar puncture on urinary symptoms in iNPH. The secondary objective was to evaluate, in the same participants previously diagnosed, the effect of cerebrospinal fluid shunt surgery on urinary symptoms.
A Study Comparing Shunt Placement Versus Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy in the Treatment of Hydrocephalus...
HydrocephalusNormal PressureThe main purpose of this study is to compare two types of treatment of hydrocephalus: placement of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt versus an endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV). A second goal of this study will be to understand how the two different types of procedures, VP shunt versus ETV, affect brain blood flow and pressures. Understanding these changes is important because the investigators hope is to someday be able to predict who will better respond to one procedure or another.
Prognostic Value of Aβ Imaging in NPH Prior to Shunt Placement
Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus PatientsIn this pilot study the investigators shall prospectively in a blinded fashion evaluate with Aβ PET in patients committed to shunt surgery and then investigate the relationship of these biomarkers with outcome on gait, cognition and urinary control improvement in the short term (3 months) and long term (1 year). The imaging agent will be provided by AVID. Furthermore the study will standardize imaging studies using florbetapir F 18 PET to provide information on amyloid burden.
Computerized Neuropsychology in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (INPH)
Normal Pressure HydrocephalusA computerised neuropsychological test battery to be used as a standardised tool assessing the cognitive domains affected by idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus INPH was developed. The aim of this study is to investigate the reliability, validity and feasibility of the battery.
Intracranial Pressure Waves Via Lumbar Puncture
Idiopathic Normal Pressure HydrocephalusPatients are subjected to simultaneous intracranial and lumbar puncture pressure measurements. This study focus on intracranial pulse amplitude. Hypothesis: Intracranial pressure amplitude is reflected by lumbar puncture pressure amplitude.
