Screening for Sleep Apnea in Patients Undergoing Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
Atrial FibrillationObstructive Sleep Apnea1 moreDiagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy has been shown to decrease arrhythmia recurrence in patients with AF following ablation. However, patients with AF undergoing ablation are not routinely screened for sleep apnea, despite an estimated sleep apnea prevalence of 25% in the general population, and perhaps higher among patients with AF. Home sleep testing is frequently used for evaluation of sleep apnea.
Pilot Study of the MultiSense Patch to Record Cardiopulmonary Data During Sleep and Wake Cycles...
Obstructive Sleep Apnea of AdultThe investigators are proposing to use a wearable device, MultiSenseTM, developed by Rhythm Diagnostic Systems, Inc. which has many sensors inside in a "Band-Aid" like strip in order to see if it can help diagnose capabilities in individuals suspected of having obstructive sleep apnea. The MultiSenseTM sensor is a self-contained, reusable, rechargeable, battery-powered, flexible strip, measuring 4 X 1.2 inches that simultaneously tracks and records a number of physiological health related parameters such as ECG, heart rate, pulse synchronized oxygen saturation, temperature, respiratory rate, depth of respiration and motion/position. One advantage of this device over current home diagnostic systems is the capability for recording over several nights. The objective is to compare multiple biometric parameters tracked by the MultiSenseTM to gold standard monitoring in an accredited sleep lab using polysomnography. Home monitoring will explore potential findings supportive of sleep apnea while monitoring at home during routine sleep over 5 to 7 nights. Enrolling 10 adults already scheduled for a medically indicated sleep study will help us to make these determinations. Subjects will wear the device, which is the size of a Band-Aid, via adhesive to their chest over a period of 10 days. Subjects will go about their normal daily activities and return the device via mail once completed.
Assessment of PPG & PAT to Detect Upper Airway Obstruction in Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea...
Sleep ApneaObstructiveThe goal of this study is to collect raw waveform data for two separate noninvasive methods, both of which may be useful for the assessment of upper airway obstruction.
Hypertension and Sleep Disordered Breathing in Pediatrics
HypertensionObstructive Sleep ApneaThe primary objective is to determine the prevalence of sleep disordered breathing in children with primary hypertension or pre hypertension. The secondary objectives are to determine any association factors for children with primary hypertension or prehypertension to have sleep disordered breathing be it gender, age, body mass index (BMI), family history (hx) or ethnic group.
A Multi-Center Study to Assess the Performance of Saturation Patterns.
Sleep-Disordered BreathingObstructive Sleep Apnea2 moreA multi-center, prospective, single-visit study designed to acquire physiologic pulse oximeter waveform data during standard polysomnography (PSG) studies performed at multiple different Sleep Lab Centers.
Face of Sleepiness
Obstructive Sleep ApneaThe purpose of this pilot study is to find out whether successful treatment of obstructive sleep apnea makes people look less sleepy, for example by reducing swelling or dark circles under the eyes. In addition, this study will help determine whether facial photographs may be used to help identify patients who should be tested for sleep apnea and daytime sleepiness.
New Data Analysis Methods for Actigraphy in Sleep Medicine
Obstructive Sleep ApneaRestless Leg Syndrome1 moreThe purpose of this study is to develop statistical and informatics tools for analyzing and visualizing Actical™ (actigraphy) data linked to fatigue in Sleep Medicine Center patients.
Continuation Protocol for Study Using Negative Pressure to Reduce Apnea Trial
Obstructive Sleep ApneaSleep ApneaThe goal of this study is to allow continued access to the aerSleep II System for subjects that have completed the SOM-029 study until the device is commercially available.
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Adipose Tissue Dysfunction
Obstructive Sleep ApnoeaObesity1 moreDysfunctional adipose tissue predisposes to cardiovascular disease. Similarly, the risk of cardiovascular disease appears to be increased in subjects with obstructive sleep apnoea. Reduced adipose tissue oxygen availability has been described in obesity and may also be a mechanism in obstructive sleep apnoea. Hypoxia induces inflammation and fibrosis in adipose tissue which are factors contributing to cardiovascular risk. The investigators hypothesize that adipose tissue's oxygen uptake is reduced in subjects with obstructive sleep apnoea by comparing in vivo AT oxygenation and blood flow in tissue of control subjects.
