A Study to Evaluate Buprenorphine Transdermal Patch in Chinese Subjects With Moderate to Severe...

Cancer Pain

This is a randomised, active-controlled, double-blind, double-dummy, parallel group study with BUP TDS 20 mg (release rate 35 µg/h), 30 mg (release rate 52.5 µg/h) and 40 mg (release rate 70 µg/h), and MOR SR 60 mg, 100 mg or 120 mg per day. The study consists of 3 phases: a Pre-randomisation Phase, a Double-blind Phase and a Safety Follow-up Phase. There will be 194 subjects to be randomized, with 97 randomized subjects in each arm to ensure 154 evaluable (per protocol population) subjects in the study.

Inhaled Cannabinoids Versus Immediate-release Oral Opioids for the Management of Breakthrough Cancer...

CancerBreakthrough Cancer Pain

Breakthrough cancer pain (BTcP) is a rapid onset, high intensity and short duration pain episode, which takes place within stable background pain control. It significantly affects the quality of life of patients with cancer and their ability to function normally. Rapid onset opioids and immediate-release oral opioids (e.g. morphine sulfate, hydromorphone, and oxycodone) are the standard treatment for BTcP. Because of the limited availability, high cost, complicated titration and the high risks of overdosing with rapid-onset opioids, most often the preferred choice of treatment is immediate-release oral opioids. However, this approach might not always offer optimal speed for onset of action and duration to match the rapid nature of an episode of BTcP. In order to seek a potential alternative to immediate-release oral opioids, we are proposing to test the onset of action of PPP001 to rapidly alleviate breakthrough pain in patients with cancer. We will also examine the safety and the efficacy on pain intensity of PPP001 within this population.

Superior Hypogastric Plexus Block Versus Pulsed Radiofrequency for Chronic Pelvic Cancer Pain

Chronic Pelvic Cancer Pain

Cancer-related pain represents a major challenge for both clinicians and patients. This pain can be associated directly with the cancer or with certain treatments administered to the patient. 52.1% of cancer patients suffer from pain and that 62.6% are not satisfied with the current pain treatment. Pain prevalence is high in developing countries due to late diagnosis and major impediments to opioid access

Evaluation of the Efficacy and Safety of Two Methadone Titration Methods for the Treatment of Cancer-related...

Pain Related to Cancer

This is a multicentric, randomized, open-label, phase IIIb national study, to evaluate the clinical effects (success/failure) of methadone for the treatment of cancer-related-pain in patients with inadequate pain relief or intolerable side effects when treated with level 3 opioid. Principal objective is to compare the clinical effects (success/failure) of two methods of methadone titration in patients with cancer-related pain inadequately relieved or with intolerable side effects after treatment with level 3 opioid. Secondary objectives are : Overall safety of methadone during the study, to describe the patients' characteristics, to describe the effects of methadone on pain relief, to describe the methadone administration, to evaluate patient's quality of life, to evaluate the prescriber's opinion regarding the handling of methadone initiation.

A Clinical Trial to Evaluate Safety and Efficacy of Endovascualr Denervation in Treatment of Cancer...

Liver CancerPancreas Cancer2 more

A prospective, multicenter, self-control clinical trial aim to enroll 110 patients suffered from upper abdominal (liver, pancreas, stomach, etc.) cancers . Patients who have taken at least one opioid drug for pain for two weeks and still have a VAS pain scale greater than 6 will receive endovascular denervation (EDN). They will be followed up for 3 months. The VAS scales, quantity of analgesics as represented by morphine equivalent and quality of life scores will be compared before and after EDN. Safety parameters such as arterial deformation, embolism, infection, liver and kidney functions will also be monitored.

Breakthrough Cancer Pain

Breakthrough cancer pain (BTcP) is a common problem in patients with cancer. This is a phase I/IIa, pharmacokinetic, dose-response and safety study of inhaled fentanyl aerosol (25µg/dose) in Chinese patients with breakthrough cancer pain. The study will include two stages.

Endovascular Denervation in Patients With Cancer Pain

Cancer Pain

Endovascular arterial denervation (ED) is a minimally invasive technique which could reduce the occurrence of injury of visceral tissue or organs. As the principle of renal denervation (RDN), Radiofrequency energy delivered by a multi-electrode catheter to the celiac plexus over the anterolateral surface of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and the celiac axis. Damaged or partially damaged celiac plexus can achieve the effect of pain relief.
