Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement For Chronic Pain and Prescription Opioid Misuse in Primary...
Chronic PainOpioid Use DisordersThe central aim of this study is to test the efficacy of Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE), an intervention designed to disrupt the risk chain leading from chronic pain to prescription opioid misuse and addiction. The investigators plan to conduct a full scale clinical trial to determine whether MORE (relative to a support group control condition) can reduce symptoms of chronic pain and opioid misuse among patients who are receiving pain management in primary care via long-term opioid analgesic therapy.
A Multiple Dose Opioid Challenge Study
Moderate or Severe Opioid Use DisorderMulti-site, randomized, double-blind, repeat-dose Phase 2 study to evaluate the degree and duration of action of multiple doses of CAM2038 in blocking the effects of hydromorphone in patients with moderate or severe opioid use disorder.
Cell Phone Technology Targeting ART Adherence and Drug Use
HIVOpioid AbuseThe objective of the current research is to improve treatment for injection opioid users by augmenting pharmacotherapy with an innovative text-messaging strategy to promote relapse prevention skills, reduce HIV-risk behaviors, and improve HIV treatment regimen adherence.
Atomoxetine for ATS and Opioid Dependence During Buprenorphine Maintenance Treatment in Malaysia...
Opiate DependenceStimulant DependenceTo evaluate the tolerability, acceptability and potential effect size of the efficacy of 4 months of atomoxetine treatment for patients with co-occurring ATS and heroin dependence (COATS) receiving buprenorphine maintenance treatment (BMT) and educational drug and HIV risk reduction counseling (EDRC).
Dane County Drug Court Study for Addicted Offenders
Opioid DependenceThe proposed work addresses critical health and public safety issues in the U.S. and in Wisconsin: the intersection of addiction and crime and the prevention of associated individual and public health complications. The results will provide justification for the expanded involvement of primary care in the treatment of substance-related disorders (opioid dependence in particular) and the prevention of their complications. As such, the project answers to federal calls for the expansion of substance abuse treatment into primary care settings and to objectives within the Alcohol and Drug Focus Area of Healthiest Wisconsin 2020.
Comparing Treatments for HIV-Infected Opioid and Alcohol Users in an Integrated Care Effectiveness...
Opioid Use DisorderAlcohol Use DisorderThe purpose of this study is to learn how best to treat substance use disorders in an HIV clinic setting. Specifically, the purpose of this pilot study is to learn if extended-release naltrexone (XR-NTX) would be a feasible and acceptable treatment for HIV-infected individuals with opioid or alcohol use disorders.
Acute Effects of Cortisol on Heroin Craving in Opioid Dependence (Ghost-Basel)
Opioid DependenceTo investigate the effects of cortisol on heroin craving and stress reaction in heroin addicted subjects Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over, single administration of study medication Study hypothesis:Cortisol has an inhibiting effect on heroin craving and stress reactivity in opioid dependent subjects.
Desvenlafaxine in Opioid-Dependent Patients
DepressionOpioid Dependence1 moreBackground: Although substitution therapy has been shown to be highly effective to retain opioid-dependent patients in treatment and reduce drug use, this population is afflicted by numerous conditions including depression. Unfortunately, studies published thus far have reported inconsistent or no difference in response between placebo therapy and antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Objective: To assess the feasibility of Desvenlafaxine (DESV) administration among opioid-dependent subjects and explore its effect on depressive symptoms. Methods: Open-label pilot trial of 8 weeks of DESV 50-100 mg/day in 20 methadone-maintained individuals with comorbid depressive symptoms at the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal. Significance: This pilot study will lay down the foundation on which a larger multisite clinical trial could be conducted to examine DESV as new treatment for opioid-dependent population with comorbid depression.
