Phase II Study of Concurrent C225, Cisplatin and Radiation in Stage IV Squamous Cell Carcinoma of...

Head and Neck Cancer

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies such as cetuximab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Cetuximab may make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Giving monoclonal antibody therapy together with chemoradiotherapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving cetuximab and cisplatin together with radiation therapy works in treating patients with locally advanced or regional stage IV head and neck cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.

Metastatic Squamous Neck Cancer With Occult Primary Squamous Cell CarcinomaStage III Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Hypopharynx25 more

Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Erlotinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for tumor cell growth. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining erlotinib with docetaxel may make the tumor cells more sensitive to radiation therapy and may kill more tumor cells. Phase I trial to study the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of combining erlotinib with docetaxel and radiation therapy in treating patients who have locally advanced head and neck cancer

Cetuximab (Erbitux) in Combination With Cisplatin or Carboplatin and 5-Fluorouracil in the First...

Head and Neck Cancer

The purpose of this trial is to investigate the efficacy of cetuximab in combination with chemotherapy in comparison to chemotherapy alone in patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer. Overall survival will be taken as the primary measure of efficacy.

Study of Taxotere, Cisplatin, 5-Fluorouracil, and Leucovorin for Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the...

Squamous Cell CarcinomaCarcinoma of Head and/or Neck

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and maximum tolerated dose of the combination taxotere, cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin. We will also preliminarily assess whether the combination is effective in treating squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the HypopharynxMetastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Larynx22 more

This randomized phase II trial studies how well combination chemotherapy with or without erlotinib hydrochloride works in treating patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck that has spread to other parts of the body or has come back. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, cisplatin, and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Erlotinib hydrochloride may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Giving combination chemotherapy with or without erlotinib hydrochloride may be an effective treatment for squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

Head and Neck Cancer

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining chemotherapy with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy and chemotherapy in treating patients who have stage III or stage IV cancer of the larynx or stage III or stage IV cancer of the oropharynx.

WEE1 Inhibitor MK-1775, Docetaxel, and Cisplatin Before Surgery in Treating Patients With Borderline...

Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This phase I trial studies the side effects and the best dose of WEE1 inhibitor MK-1775 when given together with docetaxel and cisplatin in treating patients with stage III-IVB squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck that may or may not be able to be removed by surgery (borderline resectable). WEE1 inhibitor MK-1775 may block the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of enzymes that are needed for tumor growth and may also help docetaxel and cisplatin work better by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drug. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving WEE1 inhibitor MK-1775 with docetaxel and cisplatin before surgery may kill more tumor cells and shrink the tumor, allowing patients to undergo surgery to remove it.

PDE5 Inhibition Via Tadalafil to Enhance Anti-Tumor Mucin 1 (MUC1) Vaccine Efficacy in Patients...

Head and Neck Squamous Cell CarcinomaHead and Neck Cancer

The investigators hypothesize that Tadalafil treatment, by lowering Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs) and regulatory T cells (Tregs), can prime an antitumor immune response and promote a permissive environment that should increase the efficacy of anti-tumor vaccine in a setting of minimal residual disease.
