Application of VR-based Working Memory Screening Test

Older Adults With Mild Neurocognitive DisordersOlder Adults With Non-communicable Diseases1 more

We propose to validate an interactive, immersive spatial memory test from the laboratory test. This VR-based working memory test (VRWMT) is a first-person, self-pacing game embedded within a virtual reality environment, the program is easily implemented with minimal instructions and no supervision that can be community-users friendly. It is specifically designed to assess rapid spatial working memory - a common deficit in all NCD subtypes. Its ability to detect pathological models of dementia, age-related deterioration, and hippocampal dysfunction are well established in literature

Study for Perioperative Neurocognitive Disorders After Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery for Parkinson's...

Neurocognitive Disorders

Perioperative neurocognitive disorders(PND) is common to see in elderly patients. Although PND increases patient mortality as well as hospitalization time, apparent inflammatory factors, and related mechanisms are still unknown. Metabolites could reveal chemical fingerprints left behind by cellular processes, which in turn provide a new aspect to understand the biological process behind. we aim to found the metabolomics can aid the development of diagnostic markers of PND screening, early detection, and further, provide a basis for disease prevention and treatment.

HbA1c and Neurocognitive Disorders

Neurocognitive DisordersHbA1c

Preliminary evidence suggest a possible relationship between HbA1c and perioperative neurocognitive disorders (NCD). We are going to investigate whether the preoperative value of HbA1c in patients undergoing elective non-cardiac surgery under general anesthesia, are related with increased risk of perioperative NCD.

Impact of Postanesthesia Care Unit Delirium on Postoperative Quality of Recovery

Postoperative Neurocognitive DisordersDelirium2 more

Postanesthesia care unit (PACU) delirium is subtype of postoperative delirium that occurs early after anesthesia and surgery during the recovery period. The consequences of PACU delirium have not been investigated thoroughly. So far it is unknown, whether patients with PACU delirium experience impaired postoperative quality of recovery. The aim of this observational study is to assess the impact of PACU delirium on quality of recovery 24 hours after general anesthesia for elective non-cardiac surgery.

VItamin K Inhibition and NeurocoGnition (VIKING)

Neurocognitive Disorders

The primary objective of this study is to determine whether patients usually taking Vitamin K Antagonists (VKAs) exhibit a poorer global cognitive performance than control patients (matched on age, gender and indication for anticoagulation) taking direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). The secondary objectives are: to determine whether patients usually taking VKAs are more likely to have moderate to severe cognitive disorders than matched controls taking DOACs. to determine whether VKAs intake is associated with poorer executive functions. to determine on CT scans whether the VKAs intake is associated with a greater volume of vascular calcifications in the brain compared to the use of DOACs.
