Epidural Analgesia vs Adductor Canal Block in Bilateral TKA
Osteo Arthritis KneeThis study evaluates postoperative analgesic efficacy within 48 hours between epidural analgesia and single-shot bilateral adductor canal blocks in bilateral total knee arthroplasty. Half of participants will be received continuous epidural analgesia, while other half of participants will be received single-shot bilateral adductor canal blocks.
A Trial of a Single Delivery of SB-061 in Osteoarthritis of the Knee
OsteoarthritisThis study evaluates a novel agent, SB-061, for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee. Half of the patients will receive the agent via intra-articular injection and half will receive a placebo injection.
The Effect of Mobilization With Movement on Pain and Function Among Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis...
OsteoarthritisOsteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent form of arthritis and is reported to be the most important reason behind functional disability and musculoskeletal disorders among aged individuals. OA is "a total joint failure; represented by pathological damage to articular cartilage, that affects bone, menisci, synovium, ligaments, and neuromuscular tissue". Knee OA could be responsible for pain and functional disability in 19.2% of individuals aged more than 45 years in the Framingham study and in 27.8% of such individuals in the Johnston County Osteoarthritis Project. However, in the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III), nearly 37% of individuals aged 60 years or older had radiographic knee OA. Oliveria et al. (1995) reported that age- and sex-standardized incidence rates of symptomatic hip, knee, and hand OA were 88, 240, and 100/100,000 person-years, respectively. In addition, the incidence rates of symptomatic OA of the knee, hand, or hip increased rapidly at age 50 and then levelled off beyond age 70. There were not enough data to report the prevalence of OA in Arabic countries. However, a cross-sectional study performed in Saudi Arabia demonstrated radiographic knee OA in 53.3% of men and 60.9% of women, while about 18% of women and 10% of men had symptomatic OA. Although it is well established that OA is mainly caused by damage occurring in the joint because of degeneration and inflammation, there is no known cure for OA and our understanding of the pathological aetiology of OA is still deficient and poorly understood. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the immediate and the carry-over effect of MWM on pain and function in patients with knee OA. A secondary objective is to evaluate this effect among those patients who demonstrate features of central sensitization.
Autologous Adipose-Derived Stromal Vascular Fraction Cells for Osteoarthritis Treatment
OsteoarthritisJoint Disease5 moreAdipose-derived stromal vascular fraction cells (SVFs) include regenerative cell populations (hematopoietic cells, pericytes, endothelial cells and progenitors, stromal/stem cells) and thus are potentially important as new therapeutic tools for the repair and regeneration of acute and chronically damaged tissues. The general objective of this study is to evaluate safety and clinical efficacy of a single intra-articular injection of freshly isolated auto-SVFs for the treatment of patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). This study uses autologous adipose-derived SVFs, as therapeutic agent and intra-articular administration, as a mode of delivery. Expected clinical effects: a treatment reduces pain, increases function and reduces stiffness in the knees of osteoarthritic subjects.
Quadriceps Exercise Before Total Knee Arthroplasty (The QUADX-1 Trial)
OsteoarthritisKneeThe trial investigates the efficacy of knee-extension exercise prior to total knee replacement. The participants are randomly allocated to one of three exercise dosages. There is no control group.
Atlas Knee System Clinical System Clinical Study (USA)
OsteoarthritisKneeThe primary objective of this pilot study is to collect data on the safety and effectiveness of the Atlas Knee System in subjects with medial knee osteoarthritis through 24 months postoperative follow-up.
Geniculate Artery Embolization for the Treatment of Knee Pain
Osteoarthritis Of KneeThis study is to test a new treatment method, geniculate artery embolization (GAE), to reduce the severity of pain and disability caused by knee osteoarthritis.
Study of the Analgesic Efficacy and Safety of Subcutaneous Tanezumab in Subjects With Osteoarthritis...
OsteoarthritisHip2 moreTanezumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds to and inhibits the actions of nerve growth factor (NGF). The Nerve Growth Factor Inhibitor (NGFI) class may offer an important breakthrough in the treatment of chronic pain and is under clinical investigation for the treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis or other chronic pain conditions. The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate superior efficacy of tanezumab 5 mg and 2.5 mg administered subcutaneously (SC) every 8 weeks versus placebo at Week 24 in subjects with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip. The 2.5 mg dose was shown to provide efficacy benefits with a favorable safety profile when administered intravenously in previous Phase 3 clinical trials. The 5 mg dose is expected to provide added efficacy benefit over the 2.5 mg dose based on data from previous studies.
Functional Outcome and Analgesia in TKA: Radiofrequency vs Continuous Adductor Canal Block
OsteoarthritisKneeThis randomized, double blind controlled trial is designed to investigate the potential benefits of radiofrequency in terms of analgesia and functional outcome, compared to the conventional continuous adductor canal block, for patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis.
Total Knee Replacement Component Alignment Using Manual Versus Custom Instrumentation
