Irritation and Sensitization Study of HP-5000 Topical System
Osteoarthritis of the KneeThis study will assess skin irritation and sensitization for HP-5000 patch in healthy subjects.
Patient-Specific Versus Conventional Instrumentation in TKA
OsteoarthritisKneeThe aim of this prospective multicenter randomized clinical trial (RCT) is to compare the clinical and radiologic results of primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using patient-specific versus conventional instrumentation.
Lateral Wedge Insoles With Arch Support in Knee Osteoarthritis
Medial Knee OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this is to test lateral foot orthoses with different amount of wedging to find a model that predicts the optimal lateral inclination of foot orthosis based on biomechanical or feelings measures. This study was a cross-sectional study with patients serving as their own control. The investigators recruited 24 knee osteoarthritis. Knee radiography and clinical angles measures was carried out before making orthoses, then motion analysis with an optoelectronic system was performed with each pair of foot orthoses. During motion analysis, five gait trials were carried out in each condition.
Aquatic Exercise Program for Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee OsteoarthritisObesityThe aim of PICO study is to design an aquatic exercise program specific for obese individuals with knee osteoarthritis which the main goals are OA symptoms management and the improvement of physical fitness. The author's opinion is that the musculoskeletal pain is the main constraint for any kind of mobility and its control should be considered as an important goal in the weight management's programs. Therefore the PICO project proposes an aquatic exercise program to controlling pain and other symptoms management, showing that it is possible to live with the disease, and motivating the change in lifestyle, thus preventing the installation or worsening of KOA. In this way, five hypotheses were formulated: H1. 3 months of aquatic exercise is enough to improve KOA symptoms and functionality in obese individuals; H2. The gait parameters of obese individuals with KOA can be improved by aquatic exercise; H3. Beyond the exercises skills, aquatic exercise group classes can work with an educational component, promoting lifestyles changes. H4: Pain reduction and a better psychological status can lead an increase of functionally, increasing amount of physical activity. H5: Even if the main goal is not weight management, the aquatic exercise program can lead a weight reduction or body composition change.
High Tibial Osteotomy for Osteoarthritis of the Knee
OsteoarthritisA prospective, randomised, controlled trial compared two different techniques of high tibial osteotomy with a lateral closing wedge or a medial opening wedge, stabilised by a Puddu plate. The clinical outcome and radiological results were examined at one year.
Management of Postoperative Pain Following Total Knee Arthroplasty by Using Acupuncture-moxibustion...
OsteoarthritisKneeOrthopedic surgery is reportedly among the most painful surgical procedures. Surgical damage following major orthopedic surgery often involves a large, deep incision with considerable tissue dissection and muscle, bone, and vascular exposure. Post-operative pain after such surgery is exacerbated on movement or by reflex spasms of the muscles, which may delay mobilization, reduce satisfaction, prolong hospitalization, and possibly increase medical costs. We design a prospective randomized study for postoperative pain control following total knee arthroplasty.
Exploratory Study of PENNSAID Gel to Treat Symptoms of Knee Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis of the KneeOsteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis. It can cause pain, swelling, and reduced motion in the joints. That can reduce quality of life. OA can occur in any joint, but usually affects the hands, knees, hips or spine. The purpose of this study is to find out if doctors might be able to use 2% PENNSAID gel to treat OA in the knee.
Using Ultrasound to Predict Response to Intraarticular Corticosteroids in Knee Osteoarthritis
OsteoarthritisA study using characteristics on ultrasound to predict response to intraarticular steroid injections in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The hypothesis is that patients with inflammation on ultrasound will have a better response to corticosteroid injections compared to patients without inflammation.
A Four-Week Study Comparing Acetaminophen Extended Release and Rofecoxib in the Treatment of Osteoarthritis...
Osteoarthritis of the KneeTo compare acetaminophen (Tylenol) with rofecoxib (Viox) for the treatment of Osteoarthritis of the Knee
Comparison of Surgical Time and Efficiency of Total Knee Arthroplasty
OsteoarthritisKneeThis study is designed to compare the surgical efficiency of TruMatch® Personalized Solutions surgical technique compared to conventional surgical technique. Specifically, the purpose of this study is to collect time data to enhance the existing economic model.
