Safety of Use of Pandora for Patients Suffering From Gonarthrosis

Knee Osteoarthritis

The knee osteoarthritis is a frequent degenerative condition that mainly affects subjects over 60, population often weakened by numerous comorbidities and concomitant treatments, justifying the development of new therapies. The viscosupplementation is a symptomatic treatment for knee osteoarthritis ; the objective of this intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid is to reduce knee pain and improve mobility. In practice, there are two protocols to administer viscosupplementation : in a single injection or in three injections performed weekly. The present clinical investigation has the objective to evaluate the safety of use of Pandora in a single injection or in three injections performed weekly.

Mulligan Rotational Movement Versus Medial Gapping Technique in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis...

Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee osteoarthritis is a progressive degenerative and non-inflammatory joint disorder. Due to the extensive use and stress placed on knee joint, it is a common site for painful disorders such as knee osteoarthritis. It is seen that medial side of knee is most commonly affected because of weight bearing on medial side. Symptomatically, the knee joint is most commonly affected in osteoarthritis because it requires support, high mobility, and insufficient internal stability. Osteoarthritis of the knee joint affects three parts of the knee joint (medial, lateral, and patellar-femoral joints) and develops slowly, usually over 10-15 years, interfering with daily activities Slow and gentle movements like Tai Chi, Isometric, iso-kinetic and isotonic exercises are considered helpful in increasing joint range of motion and physical function. Stretching and aquatic therapy can also decrease pain and enhance joint flexibility. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of Mulligan rotational movement vs Medial gapping technique on pain, range of motion and disability in knee osteoarthritis. This study will be a randomized control trial and will be conducted in Riphah clinics and LGH. The study will be completed within the time duration of six months. Non-probability convenient sampling technique will be used to collect the data. Those who will meet the inclusion criteria will be recruited in the group. The sample size of patients with knee osteoarthritis will be taken in this study to find the effects of Mulligan Rotational movements vs. Medial gap technique, aged between 20-40 years, will be allocated to an intervention or control group. The scales used for recording findings will be goniometer, visual analogue scale and modified disability index. Subjects will randomly divide into control group called group A Taking Mulligan therapy and Interventional group called group B taking Median Gapping Technique. 12 sessions over 6 weeks were performed on both groups. Data analysis will be done by SPSS version 25.

Pulsed Radiofrequency and Osteoarthritic Chronic Knee Pain

Pulsed RadiofrequencyOsteoarthritis3 more

The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of pulsed radiofrequency of the saphenous nerve in the treatment of pain due to knee osteoarthritis (OA). The investigators will conduct real pulsed radiofrequency or sham, over the saphenous nerve during 4 separate sessions. The investigators will evaluate pain intensity, quality of life, function, and disability via clinical validated scales. The research question is whether pulsed radiofrequency can lessen knee pain and improve function and quality of life in patients with chronic knee pain due OA. It is hypothesized, that less knee pain and improved function, and quality of life after the pulsed radiofrequency sessions.

Clinical Observation and MRI Influence of Acupuncture on Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee Arthritis Osteoarthritis

To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on osteoarthritis(OA) and its efficacy on cartilage restoration, acupuncture and physiotherapy treatment were respectively given to two random groups. Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) was used to evaluate the motor function of knee joints, followed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning to measure T2 values in ten cartilage sub-regions in tibiofemoral joints.

Bracing to Treat Knee Osteoarthritis in Elderly

Knee Osteoarthritis

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is highly prevalent in the elderly, with the knee being the most commonly affected joint in this population. Knee braces are often used to prevent common problems in knees during daily activities. The purpose of these devices is to decrease pain and improve functionality. In the literature some studies have tested the effectiveness of unloader brace for valgus or varus. However, the braces most used in the investigators' clinical setting and the less costly ones have not been described in quality studies in the literature. There are only few studies on this subject and they are methodologically inadequate. There are no studies that compared the effectiveness between the knee brace with metal hinges (no alignment) and knee brace without metal hinges. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of knee braces on pain, function and quality of life in the elderly with knee OA. Methods: Elderly with knee OA, both genders, with pain scale 3-7cm on a 10cm pain numeric scale were included. Of the 222 patients screened, 120 met the eligibility criteria and were randomized to the groups: without metal hinges, with metal hinges or control group. The groups without and with metal hinges received knee brace and were instructed to use it in daily activities, every day, during three months. Assessment for pain (NPS), function (WOMAC and Knee Lequesne) and quality of life (SF-36) were done at baseline and after 45, 90 and 180 days by a blinded assessor.

Intraarticular Injections of Platelet-rich Plasma in Pain's Treatment of the Osteoarthritic Knee...

Knee Osteoarthritis

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), due to its high content of cytokines, bioactive proteins and platelet growth factors, may contribute to diminish the pain of arthritic knee. It was also recently recognized a regenerative cell potential improving the concentration of hyaluronic acid and stabilizing angiogenesis in arthritic knees This study therefore seeks to assess the analgesic power of PRP in osteoarthritic knees intraarticularly infiltrated, and which patients would benefit most from treatment, eliminating false expectations in the rest.

Study to Assess the Effect of E-OA-07 on Acute Pain Response in Subjects Suffering From Knee OA...

Osteoarthritis of Knee

The repetitive motions associated with active life and many sports can increase the wear and tear to the joints that leads to decrease in flexibility and joint pain finally heading its way to osteoarthritis. Activities such as jumping, running can wear away the cartilage that supports and cushions the joints of hands and knees, causing bones to rub against each other. Injuries stemming from repetitive motions can also cause and worsen the joint pain. Joint pain is discomfort that arises from any joint . Irrespective of the underlying mechanisms, joint pain usually originates in activation of nociceptors, or free nerve endings. Complex neuronal activation occurs, which involves not only local sensitization of joint nociceptors but also modifications in central pain pathways. Even though, the numerous pharmacological interventions are available for joint pain, there is much debate amongst clinicians about the best approach to the treatment of joint pain. NSAIDs which is frequently used for treatment in such cases, carries concerns related to gastro-intestinal system, cardiovascular system as well as central nervous system . Hence there is a need of a safer alternative treatment option for relieving acute joint pain which is comparable to the modern medicines, without posing concerns to the subject's general well being. Herbs are known to be used since ages in traditional literature and do not pose any potential health concern. Inspite of such positive attributes herbs are not employed in treatment of acute pains as there is lack of evidence proving the same. In order to address the need of the hour Enovate Biolife has invented a novel poly herbal formulation E-OA-07 (Lanconone). Lanconone has been studied previously in patients with osteoarthritis has been proven efficacious . It has a good history of marketing and is sold in the United States, with no reported adverse event related to the product. However there is no concrete evidence proving the product's acute pain relieving dynamics, hence the current study has been employed to comprehend the effect of lanconone in joint acute pain.

Occupational Therapy-Delivered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis...

Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) affects 27 million US adults and is a leading cause of pain and disability. Non-pharmacological interventions are recommended but are underutilized. Exercise reduces pain and improves physical function, but benefits tend to wane without a component to facilitate behavior change. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has long term benefits on pain and physical function in individuals with OA, but is not typically offered in clinical care. CBT could be taught in the context of clinical care by occupational therapists (OT). OTs help people manage chronic conditions by teaching behavioral strategies that promote health and function. The purpose of this study is to test the feasibility and efficacy of an OT-delivered cognitive behavioral therapy program to help people manage their knee OA.

Catabolic Marker Levels After Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) Lavage

Knee Osteoarthritis

The purpose of this study is to understand how the components of osteoarthritic knee joint fluid (synovial fluid) change after lavage treatment with platelet poor plasma. Additionally, the study participants will complete outcome questionnaire surveys before and after the treatment in conjunction with when synovial fluid is removed from the knee (2, 4, and 6 weeks after lavage). This data will help determine if the treatment of an osteoarthritic knee joint with platelet poor plasma lavage is a suitable stand-alone therapy or to improve outcome by preparing a patient's knee for further regenerative therapies.
