The Three-dimensional Gait Analysis of Medial Knee Osteoarthritis

OsteoarthritisKnee1 more

Static imaging has been commonly and clinically accepted to assess the severity of medial knee osteoarthritis (KOA), especially the radiography. Gait analysis has been adopted to evaluate the kinematic characteristics of the knees in patients with KOA. Most of the current studies focus on the sagittal plane of the knee, but very few of them focus on the frontal or horizontal plane. With the different severity of medial KOA, anatomical structures of the knees will change and influence kinematics of the knees, such as osteophytes and deformity. At present, there has been no study focusing on the relations between the imaging assessment of the severity and quantitative kinematics of medial KOA. The aim of the study is to explore the relationship between the imaging assessment based on the Kellgren-Lawrence Scores and in vivo 3D knee kinematic characteristics in Chinese patients with medial KOA during walking using a new portal gait system.

Validity, Reliability and Reproducibility of Plain Radiographic Measurements After Total Hip Arthroplasty...

Osteoarthritis of the Hip

In total hip arthroplasty (THA), radiographic preoperative planning and postoperative evaluation of acetabular component, femoral offset (FO) and leg length discrepancy (LLD) require good validity, interobserver reliability and intraobserver reproducibility. Questions/purposes: (1) Evaluate the validity of the Sundsvall method of FO measurement by comparing it to a standard FO measurement method. (2) Evaluate the interobserver reliability and intraobserver reproducibility of measurement of FO, LLD, acetabular cup inclination and anteversion. 90 patients with primary unilateral osteoarthritis (OA) were included in this prospective study. On postoperative radiographs FO by the Sundsvall method, FO by a standard method, LLD, acetabular cup inclination and anteversion were measured. The interobserver reliability and intraobserver reproducibility were made by three independent observers. The validity and degree of prediction of Sundsvall method are measured by comparing its results with the standard method.

MRI of Infrapatellar Fat Pad in Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis

In this study, the investigators use the clinical documentation and imaging data of MRI to do research. Clinical subjects were divided into two groups: osteoarthritis patients and healthy controls without osteoarthritis. Differences of MRI data were studied between two groups.

Neuroimaging of Patients With Severe Knee Osteoarthrosis - Evaluation of Cerebral Volumetry

OsteoarthritisKnee

Due to scarce published articles about this subject, the researchers aim to study the volume measurements of the brain cortex of patients with primary severe knee osteoarthrosis and those with chronic knee pain compared to healthy and non-symptomatic volunteers, correlating the neuroimaging of cerebral volumetry with pain intensity, pain duration, knee function and pressure pain threshold.

A Study of FolateScan in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis

Knee Osteoarthritis

The purpose of this study is to evaluate 99mTc - EC20 imaging (FolateScan), a Nuclear Medicine imaging technology that enables localization of activated macrophages in the joints of participants with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Twenty five participants with symptomatic unilateral or bilateral knee OA will undergo a one-time evaluation of the knee as follows: knee radiography, FolateScan of the knees and whole body, musculoskeletal exam, questionnaires, sampling of blood, urine and synovial fluid for analysis of inflammatory markers. Data analysis will be cross-sectional and include a comparison of the location and intensity of EC20 uptake with the following: radiographic knee OA severity, clinical measures of disease severity, cytokine expression, and synovial fluid cell count.

Prevalence of Potential Cytochrome P450 Pharmacokinetic Incident Drug-Drug Interactions(DDI) Among...

Osteoarthritis

Using a retrospective database analysis, OA patients taking at least one CYP450-metabolized opioid (codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, methadone, oxycodone, or tramadol) and at least one other prescription drug metabolized via the CYP450 system were evaluated for an incident drug-drug exposure (DDE), which places them at risk for experiencing a pharmacokinetic drug-drug interaction (DDI).

Assessment of NSAID-treated Patients Adherence to Co-prescribed Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI)

OsteoarthritisRheumatoid Arthritis1 more

The primary objective of this cross-sectional observational real life study is to investigate the patient reported adherence to PPI, when prescribed as prevention of NSAID associated GI Ulcers to patients prescribed a NSAID. Patients included have Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondylitis. Adherence will be assessed by patient questionnaires.

Changes of the Single Limb Standing Balance After Total Knee Arthroplasty in Degenerative Osteoarthritis...

Knee Osteoarthritis

It was well known that total knee arthroplasty could improve the previously impaired proprioception in degenerative osteoarthritis. Most current researches have been focused on the change of the proprioception. However, the evaluation of the proprioception is based on the surrogated end. Double or single limb standing balance is considered functional scale. It is very important view for the prevention of slipping down injury in evidence-based approaches for knee osteoarthritis. Unfortunately, few study have been performed for figuring proprioceptive change after surgery out. Considering the similarity between the proprioception and the standing balance and reported positive result in proprioception after total knee arthroplasty, the investigators supposed that total knee arthroplasty might give an influence on the recovery of single limb standing balance.
