Cemented vs Cementless in Bilateral TKA
OsteoarthritisTotal Knee ArthroplastyTo compare the functional outcomes between cemented and cementless TKA in bilateral knee replacement patient.
Intra-articular Injections of Platelet-rich Plasma, Hyaluronic Acid, or Corticosteroids for Knee...
OsteoarthritisKneeTo assess if there are any differences among platelet-rich plasma, hyaluronic acid, and corticosteroid knee intra-articular injection regarding function and pain.
Comparison of Multiradius and Singleradius Total Knee Arthroplasty
Gonarthrosis; PrimaryGonarthrosis4 moreThe Investigators would like to compare multiradius and single-radius total knee arthroplasty using with association between sagittal patellar offset and anterior knee pain in subjects having undergone bilateral total knee replacement.
Persona MC Retained PCL vs. Persona Posterior-stabilized vs. NexGen PS
Knee OsteoarthritisKnee Arthritis2 moreThis study compares and evaluates differences in movement analysis, patient-reported outcome and radiological assesment between patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty with use of either Zimmer Biomet NexGen and Zimmer Biomet PERSONA
A Comparison of Manual Physical Therapy and Corticosteroid Injections for Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to compare an orthopaedic manual physical therapy (OMPT) to corticosteroid injection for the management of knee osteoarthritis.
Minimal Versus Conventional Exposure in Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty
Knee OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to determine whether Minimal Invasive Surgery results in less postoperative pain and better mobilization than conventional technique in Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty, provided that both groups receive Local Infiltration Analgesia.
A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Analgesics on a Walking Model of Knee Pain (0000-105)(COMPLETED)...
OsteoarthritisThis study will evaluate a walking model of osteoarthritis for use in testing of new therapeutic agents. The primary hypothesis is that participants treated with Naproxen or Ultracet will have lower Pain Intensity (PI) than those treated with Placebo during self-paced walks on Day 3 of treatment.
Efficacy of Preoperative Education and Mini-invasive Surgery for Total Hip Replacement
Osteoarthritis of the HipWe propose to evaluate a preoperative education of the patient and a new surgical technique (the mini-invasive THR) that could reduce the time to achieve functional independence. The primary objective of the trial is to assess the time to reach functional independence after total hip replacement depending on the treatment groups: preoperative education versus no preoperative education and mini-invasive procedure versus standard procedure. The study hypothesis is that education and mini-invasive procedure will reduce the time to reach functional independence. This is a prospective trial with a double randomization.
Comparing Clinical Outcome of 2 Different Total Knee Prostheses: Nexgen LPS-Flex Versus AGC
OsteoarthritisKneeA randomized blinded study is conducted comparing 2 different knee prostheses. Range of motion (ROM), pain, feel of prosthesis, satisfaction and ability to do daily activities are registered at intervals up to one year postop, where patients are informed on which prosthesis they received. We want to: determine whether an increased ROM is achieved with a high-flex knee compared to a standard knee and if so, does it matter
Pharmacist-initiated Intervention Trial in OsteoArthritis (PhIT-OA)
Knee OsteoarthritisOsteoarthritis (OA) is a major public health concern. Currently, there are at least 3 million Canadians afflicted with this condition with a 50% increase predicted by 2020. It is estimated that 85% of Canadians are afflicted with OA by age 70. As such, using the current health care structure, it is doubtful that the health system can keep pace with this increasing demand. Alternative health care delivery strategies must be investigated. The purpose of this study is to assess if a pharmacist-initiated intervention for individuals with knee pain with a high likelihood of knee OA will lead to an improvement in the quality of care for these individuals. We are hopeful that results of this study will show better management of knee osteoarthritis by a pharmacist-initiated intervention (which means that it is the pharmacist who will start the process for an intervention that includes exercise and an educational program when compared to no intervention. If this is the case, by implementing the proposed intervention program, subjects could be diagnosed earlier, the burden of illness on individuals could be diminished through an appropriate intervention program, and economic savings could be embraced. Hypothesis: Community pharmacists can identify patients with likely knee OA and initiate a multidisciplinary intervention that will improve quality of care and outcomes.
