Cost Effectiveness of Prolotherapy Injections Prior to Total Knee Arthroplasty
Knee OsteoarthritisThis study compared the cost effectiveness of two-stage algorithm (prolotherapy injections (PrT) combined with rehabilitation protocol (RP) prior to total knee arthroplasty (TKA)) and one-stage algorithm (TKA) in the management of advanced stage knee osteoarthritis.
RF TKA Prehabilitation
Knee OsteoarthritisThe purpose of this study is to compare the effects of the radiofrequency applied to the sensory innervation of the knee, with respect to a control group (standard therapy), in a prehabilitation program aiming to improve the functional recovery of patients undergoing TKA. In the present study, the investigators hypothesize that participants treated with radiofrequency 4-6 weeks before the surgery, should be able to effectively accomplish the prehabilitation program and, therefore, have a faster recovery of their functional status in the post operative period , compared with the control group (That use the present state of the art approach)

Influence of the Radiological Stage on the Efficiency of Viscosupplementation in Basal Thumb Arthritis...
Osteoarthritis ThumbThe rhizarthrose is the most frequent affection of the hand at the age fifty and beyond. For the moderate forms of the disease, the majority of the studies recommend the recourse to the viscosupplement because of its efficiency in the long term. On the other hand, no study was focused on the impact of the anatomical severity on the clinical result of the treatment by intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid. The present research has for objective to study the influence of the radiological severity on the result of the viscosupplement, in the conditions of daily practice, in patients affected by rhizarthrose. It is an open observational multicentrical prospective study realized by 10 investigators rheumatologists and liberal orthopedic surgeons. The recruitment is competitive and the study will be ended when 55 patients will have been included by taking into account a risk of trial exits or of lost of sight of 10 %.The main criterion is the influence of the radiological stage on the answer to the treatment. Duration of inclusion 6 months. Duration of follow-up 3 months. Total duration of the study 9 months.
Gastric Volume in Diabetic Patients Undergoing Staged Bilateral Total Knee Arthroplasty
Degenerative ArthritisAspiration of gastric contents during perioperative period is a grave complication with significant morbidity and mortality. Diabetic patients have a higher incidence of autonomic dysfunction, causing gastropathy. They are known to have gastroparesis and the consequent delayed gastric emptying which predisposes them to an increased risk of aspiration than the general population. Furthermore, other common factors can influence the gastric emptying rate, as for example, old age, pain, and the use of opioid analgesics. In the previous study, evidence of increased pain was reported in patients undergoing staged bilateral total knee arthroplasty, in whom the second operated knee had greater sensitivity (tertiary hyperalgesia) due to the surgical injury to the first operated knee. In the present study, we will evaluate the effect of old age, diabetes, surgical stress, pain, and the use of analgesics on the residual gastric volume in elderly patients undergoing staged-bilateral total knee arthroplasty.
Investigation of Predisposing Factors Affecting Pain in Patients With Knee Osteoarthritis
OsteoarthritisKneeThis study aims to determine the factors affecting pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). This study will be carried out following the "Helsinki Declaration", by selecting 106 volunteers who were diagnosed with knee OA, who applied to the Department of Orthopedics between February 2022 and August 2023 and met the inclusion criteria. Before the evaluation, all the volunteers participating in the study will be informed about the purpose of the study, its duration, and the evaluations to be made. Consent will be obtained from all volunteers participating in the study with an "Informed Voluntary Consent Form". Demographic and clinical characteristics of all patients who voluntarily accepted to participate in the study will be questioned with the "Knee Osteoarthritis Evaluation Form". Quality of life, pain, range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, presence of comorbidity, and functional evaluation will be recorded on the form.
An Attempt to Find Out Root Cause of a Pain Producing Knee Disease
Knee OsteoarthritisArthroplasty1 moreThis study was focused on a type of arthritis (knee) in which patients develop pain with disabilities in sitting and walking etc. In advance stage the person is bereft of his/her personal physical activities. The prevalent treatment is temporary and dis-satisfactory. A new treatment was designed and a trial was conducted on 125 patients (100 in the trial group, 25 in the control group) for a duration of six months.
