OsteoarthritisAvascular Necrosis1 moreprimary endpoint of this Study is maintenance of "at least good clinical status" for a period of 10 years following initial implantation among Cormet procedures enrolled inthe pre-market IDE.
The Effects of Bariatric Surgery Weight Loss on Knee Pain in Patients With Osteoarthritis of the...
Knee PainKnee OsteoarthritisThis project is a prospective observational study that will involve the participation of 25 volunteers that qualify for having knee osteoarthritis, are going to be having gastric bypass surgery and are willing to participate in this study which is designed to last up to two years. Potential candidates will be interviewed using a standard set of questions related to the study
Audio Recording for Improved Surgical Outcome (ARISO)
OsteoarthritisUse of audio recordings (with suggestions and imagery for a better surgical outcome) studied in orthopedic patients.
A Longitudinal Study of Osteoarthritis (OA) Disease Progression Measured by MRI, dGEMRIC, and Radiography...
OsteoarthritisIn order to design future disease modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) proof of concept studies, this study is being conducted to assess magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measurements of cartilage morphology and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) content as it relates to the progression of disease in subjects with potentially rapidly progressing OA. The subject population is selected to have higher likelihood of having rapidly progressing OA (i.e., a more rapid joint space narrowing (JSN) compared to general knee OA population and thus, may be more likely to have changes in GAG content and/or cartilage volume. The results of this study may provide a reasonable means to assess DMOAD activity of drugs in development. The non-OA controls are included to determine the rate of change for subjects of similar age. Ideally, results of this study will identify reliable methods for delayed Gadolinium Enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) and MRI cartilage assessment that correlate with OA disease progression as compared to x-ray changes.
Outcome Following Hylan F- 20 (Synvisc) + Corticosteroid Injections for the Treatment of Osteoarthritis...
OsteoarthritisKneeThe goal of viscosupplementation is to replenish synovial fluid, which will improve patient symptoms and mobility. Viscosupplementation of the knee with hyaluronic acid injections has been shown to improve symptoms in patients with osteoarthritis. Recent studies have shown that this improvement may be highly variable based on the time from treatment, especially in the first 12 weeks following treatment. The purpose of this study is to document the outcomes following a treatment protocol in which corticosteroid is used in addition to the initial Synvisc injection in the series of three injections.
Study of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty in South Africa
OsteoarthritisKnee6 moreThis multi-site, observational, prospective study aims to investigate current practice and associated outcomes for patients scheduled for elective unilateral total hip or knee arthroplasty in South Africa. This information will provide baseline values, against which effects of implementing a multidisciplinary enhanced care protocol for arthroplasty patients will be compared (the subsequent study).
Adverse Events in Dry Needling
Muscle SorenessHeadache6 moreThe purpose of this prospective cohort survey study is to further explore the incidence of adverse events with dry needling by physical therapists - as well as any differences or similarities between patient-reported vs therapist-reported incidence of AEs.
Micro-fragmented Adipose Tissue Injection Associated With Arthroscopic Procedures in Patients With...
Symptomatic Knee OsteoarthritisThe study aims to evaluate the effects of a single intra-articular injection of micro-fragmented adipose tissue obtained with the Lipogems® system in patients affected by knee chondropathy. End-points were determined by evaluating the patients in terms of improvement in symptoms, functional recovery and radiographic appearance compared to baseline.
Effectiveness of Spa Treatment, Outpatient Physiotherapy and no Physiotherapy in Spine Osteoarthritis...
Spine OsteoarthritisSpa ResortsIn the first study group will participate patients with spine osteoarthritis who will be treated in polish spas in Subcarpathian Region. Complex physiotherapy including balneotherapy will be applied in study group participants. In the second study group will participate patients with spine osteoarthritis who will be treated in outpatient treatment. Complex physiotherapy without balneotherapy will be applied in second study group participants. In the control group will participate patients with spine osteoarthritis who will not have applied physiotherapy nor balneotherapy during observation. In all patients will be evaluated quality of life, level of pain intensity and health assessment.
Study of Pain Catastrophizing
Osteo Arthritis KneeThis study proposes to experimentally manipulate pain catastrophizing in order to investigate the neural mechanisms by which pain catastrophizing influences the experience of pain among non-Hispanic Blacks (NHBs) and non- Hispanic Whites (NHWs) with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Therefore, participants will be randomized to either a single session cognitive-behavioral intervention to reduce pain catastrophizing or a pain education control group.
